Trump Was Too Dumb To Understand Mattis’s Resignation Lett
Trump booted James Mattis two months early because he finally figured out that the Mattis resignation letter was critical of his foreign policy.
The New York Times reported:

Aides said that the president was furious that Mr. Mattis’s resignation letter — in which he rebuked the president’s rejection of international allies and his failure to check authoritarian governments — had led to days of negative news coverage. Mr. Mattis resigned in large part over Mr. Trump’s hasty decision to withdraw American forces from Syria.

When Mr. Trump first announced that Mr. Mattis was leaving, effective Feb. 28, he praised the defense secretary on Twitter, saying he was retiring “with distinction.” One aide said that although Mr. Trump had already seen the resignation letter when he praised Mr. Mattis, the president did not understand just how forceful a rejection of his strategy Mr. Mattis had issued.

Trump was furious about the negative news coverage, not the letter, until someone told him, or he saw on cable news what the letter meant. The scary part is that it took days for Trump to figure out what Mattis was saying. In this context, it is easy to see how Trump is getting played by Putin and other authoritarians around the world.
Trump doesn’t take in or process information. The president didn’t understand Mattis’s resignation letter until he got bad coverage for it on cable news. He responded to the bad coverage by trying to look strong by showing Mattis the door two months early.
Donald Trump is talking to leaders around the world on a daily basis. He is negotiating for the United States, yet, he didn’t read or understand enough to know that the Mattis resignation letter was bad.
Trump is in over his head and sinking fast in the White House.

You know, Mattis is a pretty smart guy so he knew when he took the job that Trump ran on getting us out of Syria so I doubt if announcing a pullout of 2000 troops was a huge shocker to him. Just a policy he doesn't agree with. I pointed out on another thread to Morgan (who conveniently disappears when facts don't go her way) that Obama had four Sec Def's. She came back with her higher learning and pointed out Trump has only been in two years. I then pointed out eight years (Obama Presidency) divided by four equal 2. She disappeared. don't remember Rayboy Maddow or any other media shouting White House in chaos.

Are you kidding me? Whoever said that Mattis's assessment is correct? Moderates like Kentucky senator Rand Paul are applauding Trump's dismissal of Mattis as long overdue. And extricating ourselves from a largely civil war we have no business being in. Paul clearly explains that that withdrawing is the right thing to do. Mattis, a Marine general wants to do what military men do - fight. But when you consider exactly who we are fighting, withdrawal makes sense. The 2 factions fighting in Syria don't support US interests by any means. It comes down to which faction is more closely aligned with our interests. And according to Rand Paul even that assessment is difficult at best. Trump campaigned on pulling out of endless middle east wars and he's keeping his campaign promises. MAGA!

A lot of sessions with a shrink may return your mind back to rational thinking. Is electric shot still a treatment? Who is boss of the military? Generals aren't the top dog. We are not the world's police force. Do U want to commit suicide? Volunteer, to go to Syria. Otherwise, why do U advocate killing of USA male youth?

You can count those who are applauding this on one hand, Rand Paul marches to his own very "special" tune.

There's pulling out and then there's pulling out in a way that is going to result in an abortion, there's also pulling out without a hint of US intelligence or advice, so unless the idea came as an immaculate idea considering there is no brain at work, it came fro Trump's dictator friends Putin and Erdogan

You trolls crack me up. Trump ran on getting out of Syria. He won. Mattis took the job knowing Trump would pull out. By the way Obama pulled out many more troops against military advice. We went to war with Iraq based on much faulty intelligence about weapons of mass destruction. We are talking 2000 troops here. We can replace them from air stations we have in Iraq in a heartbeat. Just once it would be nice if you could back up your over inflated opinions.
