I am new to forums having preferred face-to-face discussions of my views. I joined in order to become more aware of view points from others outside of my acquaintance.

Thank you for the "heads up" :) I have been reading quite a few posts and more people seem concerned with spewing insults and distorting facts than having real discussions. I have noticed that even someone who posted that they wanted conversations based on facts have resorted to calling others names, insulting the views of others, and just been down-right disrespectful.

Just one thing, use the quote reply button when responding. It makes it easier to figure out to whom you are replying or the specific points.

Many thanks. Again, welcome!

Not such a bad thing if you have a yard or garden. They eat aphids which can kill most flowers and in particular roses. Papa said when you see lots of Lady Bugs, the summer is going to be wetter than usual.

While what you say is true, in some of cases, that is the only level you can communicate with them. Most people are great to talk to and polite in their postings, but there are always a few exceptions. Take heart, not everyone will call everyone else names, just a few. You will find that we have our share of trolls on here too.

Welcome and hope you have a great time.

Isa. 40:2

I have heard that giving the double was a charitable act sometime done by a rich man for a poor man who satt by the gate. The poor man would tack a note saying what all his debts were. And if a kind rich man was in a charitable mood he would fold the note and cover it and would pay the poor mans bills.

I'm not sure this is the exact scripture I'm looking for It seems like the scripture says, "The Lord will give either Israel or Jerusalem the double for her sins."

Really?

I have read several discussions recently where things were cordial, in fact I almost complimented an individual for his marked improvement.

Welcome to OPP.

You will find that there are some that will truly welcome you & some that will make you feel unwelcome.

Very often we use such stories to convey a point. The point of this, the rich man will not miss any funds he gives to another, but our Father takes notice. Giving is an important part of our lives. We find that the more we give, the more we have. It is strange that way. I remember a time when my husband and I were saving pennies in a jar for the poor, we had an issue come up and my husband suggested we cash in the jar and use that money. I refused, the next day I got a promotion. It always works out that way. I give someone the last penny that I have in my pocket, but I never seem to be broke. But, I give not because it is expected, but because someone needs it more than I. God will provide if we put all of our trust in him. No, I never pray for money because God is not a penny bank. But.....what can I say.
