Separating families was a directive by Obama and congress has yet to chang it. As far as my citizenship, my grand parents filed for a visa, found families to sponsor them and provide employment once the made it to Ellis island to go through vetting physical exams and inoculation before being allowed to immigrate. Obama caged kids for months. There were no real complaints from liberals. Conservatives did complain and pushed to have both parents and children deported. President Trump placed kids with relatives (all though our nation), if no relatives then they were placed in group foster care.
His administration was sued. And this is why you will see more and more children
dragged from CA to our borders...... kids can not be held in cells while parents or traveling companions are vetted. So, according to the wishes of those who sued, the traveling companion and children are released if the adult(s) promises to appear in immigration court.
Now then.... was my parents denied asylum. No, my Poppa's family arrived in the early 1700s with a land grant for the land I still live on. A few of my mother's family arrived shortly before WWII. Although it was not a topic of dinner conversation, but I did have aunts and uncles on the MS St. Louis.

Thank you. Pennylyn: the libs tend to not know their history regarding immigration as opposed to invasion to claim asylum. I remember the stories from my mom and dad's parents about the time they spent waiting for visas until they received verification of sponsorship and employment. Working on farms for subsistance and going to school at night to learn the language, customs and citizenship requirements to become citizens in two years.
