There is little if any facility for personal hygiene and sanitation, they must defecate and urinate and dispose of trash all along their way. In the conditions they find themselves, contagious diseases and viral epidemics is a high probability. Volunteer doctors and medical personnel are treating a growing number of cases. The CDC has repeatedly warned that such unsupported masses of moving people are breeding grounds for disease and viral infection. Some of them have already been killed or injured in vehicle accidents.
