Correct, but...I've never seen such a game of follow the leader as in both the Bush II and or Reagan years, so I think both parties are at least equally guilty there as well. It also seems that the more the opposing side dislikes the "leader" the more the "leader" side follows. Human nature maybe?

Yes party followers of both parties seem to have lost the ability to think for themselves! You are right about your observation. Extreme opposition to a leader of the opposing party brings out extreme support from his followers. As the country becomes more divided we will continue to see this happening, as we do now with Obama.
I have not seen much good come out of the last several presidents. All formed policies contributing to our debt and employment problems we have today. Obama's policies have only made things worse.

Unfortunately you are correct. By some outward appearances things have gotten "better" but not in the long run. I had higher hopes for some real change, but sadly it has been a disappointment. I have to paraphrase, but in an interview with Rolling Stone quite some time ago, Merle Haggard said something to the effect that it doesn't matter today who is elected cuz right after inauguration "they" pull him aside and say "congtrats but heres what you are really going to do cuz if you don't..."
