After being caught in a hotel room with an underage boy while serving as an Oklahoma State Senator, Christian conservative Ralph Shortey is sentenced to 15 years for child sex trafficking.

KJRH Tulsa reports:

A former Republican state senator in Oklahoma has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on a child sex trafficking charge.

Ralph Shortey was sentenced Monday in federal court in Oklahoma City. He had faced a sentence of up to life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Shortey pleaded guilty in November in exchange for prosecutors dropping three child pornography charges against him.

Last year Shortey was charged with engaging in child prostitution and other felonies after being caught in a hotel room with an underage boy.

At the time of his arrest police body cam footage shows Shortey wearing an obnoxious and misogynistic T-shirt saying “make me a sandwich” with a reference to the Biblical quote from Ephesians 5:22:

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

Shortey is married with four children.

Elected to the state senate in 2010, Shortey represented Oklahoma City before being arrested on child sex trafficking charges last spring.

Before his arrest, Shortey was a prominent Christian conservative in Oklahoma politics, known for being a birther, and a Trump supporter.
In fact, Shortey was the Oklahoma state chair of President Donald Trump’s campaign during the 2016 primary elections.

Also, before being busted with an underage boy in his hotel room, the anti-abortion, Christian conservative, Republican state senator made national news in 2012 when he proposed a bill that would ban human fetuses from being used in food.

(“.. a bill that would ban human fetuses from being used in food.” Wow!)

According to reports, Shortey “attended Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City in preparation for mission work in Uganda,” before beginning his political career.

Bottom line: Nothing says “conservative Christian Republican family values” like a state senator caught in a hotel room with an underage boy.

Strange that a 17 year old is considered a child, while a 17 year old can serve in the Military as an adult?

Like laws that claim an unborn child is not a human being until it is born. Yet if a pregnant woman is killed by a drunk driver. The drunk driver is charged with two counts of manslaughter.

Stupid laws like this need to be changed. Either a 17 year old is a child and should not be allowed to serve in the military.

A pregnate woman is carrying a human being so abortion is a crime OR a drunk driver should NOT be charged with two counts of manslaughter or if you prefer womanslawer. 🤔🙄😎

Sounds like he was a pretty good guy until he entered politics. If you are unaware, Oklahoma has a growing group of Satanist in the area. Satanist can have no greater pleasure than bringing down a Christian, they even join churches just to destroy them from the inside. He may never have been a sincere Christain or he could have just been padding his resume for politics later. As is the human condition he fell and sinned. People in the military are mostly outstanding people but they come from society at large. Just like judges, doctors, etc... A few are found guilty of rape, murder, theft, desertion, etc... every year. Do you mock all military for the few who fell to maintain standards? You seem to enjoy casting stones, are you without sin? Then you shouldn't be casting stones. He was caught, tried and is being punished. What more do you want? You want to rub it in our faces, don't you? You accomplished your goal. Are you now a better person than before you threw the stone? Did you make the world a better place or a little darker? Forget about his parents, wife, and kids, don't worry be happy you got to mock another Christian and Christians at large, a twofer. Wow, you da man.

The reference is “The Progressive Secular Humanist Newsletter.”

Has anyone looked up the court papers on this story? There are a few oddities in the account .... like pointing out that the age of consent in Okla is 16 but the “boy” was 17. Part of the charges were about transporting a minor across a state line but “they agreed to meet up in a hotel”. In another article, police apparently were responding to a ‘welfare’ case call. So did the hotel owner call the police worried about a 17 year old?

I’m not suggesting a crime didn’t take place, just this is another very weird case involving a politician and/or ropey journalism and/or sting operation.

I certainly don’t think there is much merit to the hype of “look at this, ain’t christanity awful” narrative.

Nothing says typical leftist thinking like holding up rags like "The Progressive Secular Humanist". What an example of scraping the bottom of the barrel. Anyone who follows Oklahoma politics knows this guy and his premonition for evil. The fact that he attended an obscure, so called Christian College has nothing to do with anything. Why don't we look at Rev Jeremiah Wright?

The wheels of justice grind slowly, BUT they grind exceedingly fine.

Their day is coming.

PeterS is on a crusade, he is zealous in his personal vendetta against Christians. No stone unturned. He will wade into any atheist cess pool in search of a morsel of evidence that Christians are the most evil people on earth. He never mentions the horrors of Islamic terrorism, and if you bring it up, he will immediately launch an attempt to prove a moral equivalence. Pete's hostility toward Christians is irrational and boundless.

Maybe he is an Islamic terrorist himself. Who knows.

I feel such pity for people like PeterS -- no faith, no love, no hope. It must be a miserable existence, indeed.
