The German family to be deported

Yep, they came here so they could homeschool their kids and are being deported because of that. This place has changed quite a lot in my lifetime and most of that change has come in the last 20 years. This is more proof of what the Mayor of NYC showed us last week when he forced about 700 students of non-public education schools to be pushed into public schools. He was not happy with them making such high test scores compared to the kids in public schools.

I guess if the Romeikes had come here illegally—and totally avoided any attempt to honor the system—they could stay forever, and even be granted "amnesty."
If they were lazy bums, they could apply for every form of government assistance... free medical... free education... food stamps... But because they actually work and contribute to the community—because they've accepted the high responsibility of educating their own children—we want to send them back to Germany,

We are becoming another state controlled nation thanks to the leftists who worship big government and not God.

If they came in illegally, they would probably still be deported. They seem to have some stable values and would probably not vote democrat. That alone would disqualify them from amnesty etc. I really like sarcasm.

I think this is more Obama then the changes in our society as a whole. Most people in this country would gladly welcome them here, but not Obama. If they were Muslim, Mexican, or black, he would be beating the war drums to keep them here, but since they are white Christian people they can forget about any help from Obama. In fact, they can expect just the about what they are getting. I would dearly love to see about 10,000 people show up on their front lawn when they come to take them away. Obama and his court need to be told exactly where to go on this one......

It's getting so that we must face Washington D.C. and bow three times a day and say our allegiance to Obama.

“The goal in Germany is for an open, pluralistic society,” the Justice Department wrote in a legal brief last year. “Teaching tolerance to children of all backgrounds helps to develop the ability to interact as a fully functioning citizen in Germany.”

Teaching tolerance to children of ALL backgrounds--EXCEPT those that believe in homeschooling. This is down the rabbit hole by the Justice Dept.

Since when is homeschooling illegal in the US? It's not, and to try to equate the deportation of this family due to homeschooling is quite a stretch. The family is being deported because they overstayed their visa, and their reason for seeking asylum did not pass muster. They left their country because they did not like the laws governing homeschooling. Just like any other matter, if they didn't like the laws, they should have tried to get them changed. Additionally, the family could have chosen any other EU county to call home, but they opted for the USA based on the hope that they could gain political asylum based on religious beliefs. That didn't work because they didn't leave their country due to religious persecution, they left because they didn't like the homeschooling law. Those other EU countries are still available, or they are free to apply for citizenship just as anyone else living here on visas. Find something else to bash the SCOTUS, the AG, and the President for....this one doesn't pass the smell test.

Hmmmmm, they overstayed their visas. I wonder what happens to Latin Americans who do that and become illegal aliens by so doing. Do Latins who may vote Democrat someday get deported for being here illegally? Oh, yes, I know you people can't stop talking about all the deportations under Obama but there are so many more of them today than before he was there.

May I suggest to you that all those other EU countries are much more socialistic than we are, up to now, and that may well have had something to do with these people coming here? OK, I said it so you can answer me.

Have you heard anything about the 700 high achieving kids in NYC who won't get to attend the schools they have been in for some time. That Mayor is bound and determined that there won't be any kids in the city better educated than the public school kids. Socialism is gaining on the EU countries.

People here is an update of the Romeike's story. It seems that the DHS has stated that they are to be extended a more or less perpetual permission to stay around.

Yes, I know that Beck is a liar to most left leaners but maybe this time he failed to lie.

The president has deported more illegals than any other president in modern times. The implication that illegals are groomed to vote democratic is also a right wing fable. You have nothing to support your position that Latin Americans are given a free pass because they tend to vote democratic. This another one of those talking points that has never been proven but has been disproved a number of times.

The reason those people came to America is plain and simple. They didn't like the ban on homeschooling in their country, so they came to America where they know homeschooling is allowed. They were never religiously persecuted, they didn't want to follow the law. I am all for immigrations such as this, but they should not try to game the system with false reasons to immigrate. I imagine there are socialistic countries in the EU, but I'll wager that some of them do allow homeschooling.

I don't know what you're referring to with the 700 students not being able to attend schools that they've attended in the past. I did hear that the Mayor has decided to slow the growth of Charter Schools and has requested that those Charter schools operating in public schools find other places to run their schools.

By damn I believe you are right about those charter schools but I just don't understand how they were operating in public school buildings. New York is a strange place, though, so who knows what they were doing there?

Since you want to wager that some of the socialistic countries of Europe allow homeschooling I take it that you really believe that these people should have been thrown out. How many of their kids would serve as anchor babies for Hispanics. One of them is surely not more than two years old and I am not sure about one or two of the others. You do know what kind of arguments lefties use to support anchor babies of the Hispanic variety, don't you?

As this family was already complete when they came to the USA and they had no children born here, the anchor baby law does not apply. Had they decided to have another child while here, they would have fared better because of that Law. The law allows those families to remain in country and gives those families priority consideration to immigrate, and their requests are moved to the front of the line.

I just saw a news update....the family will not be forced to leave the country, so the matter is resolved right now. I don't know what will be required of them in the future, but I'm sure they're resting easier tonight.

That is a very astute suggestion, vernon. It may well be what is going on.
