You know, even if they were white supremacists, even if they were Neo Nazis, even if they were antifa, even if they were Black Lives Matter, we all have the constitutional right to free speech. I don't and won't condone white extremists, and they weren't the only ones there, but they went through the legal process of obtaining a permit to protest. Antifa, and THEY also weren't the only ones there, had no permit and therefore no legal right to assemble there. Charlottesville government is Democratic, and they ordered their police to place the barriers so as to run the two groups together, and then stand down. Trump said there were good people on both sides i.e. not all people on the right were Nazis or white supremacists, and not all people on the left were antifa or BLM. However, there WERE people there who belonged to all of those extreme groups making both sides to blame as Trump said, and that also there were good people on both sides as Trump said, which was also true.
Firstly, if Charlottesville didn't want the alt right there, they should have never given the permit (which they reluctantly did after a lawsuit). Even so, the alt right had a permit and therefore the legal rights to protest and be protected.
Secondly, antifa and the others should have never been allowed to assemble because they had no permit.
Thirdly, the Charlottesville city government failed both the law abiders AND the law breakers by running them together and letting kaos take over.
Fourthly, the order to run the two groups into each other and then stand down should have brought criminal charges against the city government and the governor (he was in on it too), but that didn't happen.
Fifthly, Trump DID NOT say that any Nazis or KKK or any other group were good people. He could have easily said that the leftists were to blame as they had no permit, but he DID NOT say that either. He DID say that BOTH sides were to blame, which is true whether you see it that way or not. You can't blame everything on conservationists just because you are not one.
Lastly, number six. If we are to stop a group from excerciseing their right to free speech, then who do we stop? Most would immediately want the other side silenced, but would that be fair? Not no way not no how!
In reality, you can't silence ANY group because when you do, you open the doors for the largest and most powerful group to silence any other group they want.
