Illegals net Americans' jobs with amnesty

By Michael Graham:

"Hey , you - the guy with a real job. You know, a make things/break things/get your hands dirty job?
Here's what the political class now pushing immigration amnesty thinks of you:
"There are American workers who, can't cut it. There shouldn't be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just can't get it, can't do it. And so you can't obviously discuss that publicly."
That's from an aide to U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio(R-Fla.), quoted in a New Yorker magazine, as he worked a deal between the bigwigs of the building and construction trade unions and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The results of that deal are included in the 1,075 page, 24-pound(!) so-called "immigration reform" bill barreling it's way through the U.S. Senate.
And who's going to get crushed under the weight of this legislative monstrosity? You "American workers who can't cut it." Think about that as you sit reading the Herald at your local Dunkin'Donuts, waiting for your ride to work or sitting eating lunch on a couple of cinder blocks on your job site. These are the guys in Washington who are supposed to be on YOUR side. And they're pushing for amnesty and more foreign workers to compete for your jobs.
After all, we can't "presume you're a star worker", can we? U.S. Sen. Liz Warren, Sen.-wannabe Ed Markey and every liberal Democrat in New England is going to vote to reward the illegal immigrants who have been stealing jobs from American workers like you, with legal permission from the government to keep some American slob out of work.
Longtime amnestesiac Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina predicts 70 votes for passage in the U.S. Senate, including fellow Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire . And who's speaking up for bricklayers, pipe fitters and paint slingers afflicted with the unfortunate challenge of being Americans? NOBODY around here. No, made-in-the-USA suckers like you are expected to get licenses, permits and pay all your taxes, and then when you lose out on a job to an illegal immigrant who's doing none of those things, you're told "you can't cut it." You're a xenophobe who doesn't want to compete with foreign labor.
On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states can't require would-be voters to produce paperwork to prove they're Americans. The voters of Arizona were bothered by the fact that "motor-voter" rules let people simply declare themselves Americans when registering to vote - no proof required. "It's essentially an honor system. It does not do the job," Arizona's attorney general argued to the Supreme Court. Sonia Sotomayor's reply? "Well, that's what the federal system decided was enough." The court ruled 7-2 that she's right. But why DID the federal government pass a law that allows people to "self-declare" their U.S. citizenship - an obvious invitation to fraud?
Why do amnesty advocates insist that deporting people simply for being in America illegally - something done by virtually by every other country in the world - is racist and wrong? Because they themselves don't believe that American citizenship is something to value. To you, being an American makes you one of the luckiest people in the world. But to the "Americans can't cut it" crowd, American citizenship is no big deal.
These are the people who say things like, "For the first time in my adult life I'm truly proud of my country" when their husband becomes the Democratic nominee for president.
Thats why they're so willing to give it away."

Years ago you could pick up a day worker give them some yard work, big jug of ice water an a really good lunch. Pick them up and return to the courner.
Then if you like there work an if they like you, you could set up schedule.
Now laws for labor, hourly wages, what e-verify for 2 hours cutting grass.
Forgot possible transportion illegals.
You get the picture..sad.
Now they may ask for union pay skill.
Yes times are a changing, not for the good.

Try going to home depo in southern california. There are rules, demands for day workers.
Jobs americans cant or wont do. Well you need to speak spanish on many of these jobs.
Cut rate hour, pay till they get hold then see the demands. Power in numbers. These unions think amnesty will get more democratic voters, like I said just wait.
Got to go my spanish speaking teacher is here, prepare for our future

Les, I think the old saying goes, those that can't do, teach, and those that can't teach become engineers!

The real problem goes to the socialistic controlled education system that tries to convince everyone that in order to be successful in life they need a college education. They have created graduating classes full of babbling idiots that can't even tie their own shoes an looking to go to college convinced they will graduate and step into a job paying 100K annually to start!
They to the best of my knowledge have dropped all vocitional education classes in high schools.

These socialist idiots never gave any thought to what happens when the blue color jobs are all filled with dropouts that quit because they couldn't see any college in their future because of lower than average academics or lack of funds. I guess that's why there are unions so these people have someone to pay to get them a job and do their talking for them.

I had 2 high school grads who worked for me that after I retired went on to start their own construction company and are now charging these college educated idiots big bucks to get things done for them that they have no clue how to do themselves.

Dutch: here you stated,"They to the best of my knowledge have dropped all vocitional education classes in high schools."

Its kind of amusing, I was just having that conversation with my wife. We were driving around, and she says to me "isn't that where Blue Hills Vocational Technical High School used to be!"...and I said " yep, but now its just,Blue Hills Technical High School now"... then she said "yeah, that's what I said", she hadn't even noticed the difference. And I'll bet there's heck of a lot more that didn't and don't, because she's a very bright young woman.

Please do let me provide you, from my perception, why this style of education ceased in high schools.

Insurance liability, profiling, community colleges, for profit training academies.

Insurance liability speaks for itself.

Profiling not because of race but perception school counselors would profile certain students based on their perception of the students ability and direct them toward these types of classes.

Community colleges started providing these classes thereby increasing their enrollment, thereby obtaining additional tax dollars for their coffers.

A whole new business model of for profit training academies needs no explanation.

Too sorry to work and too scared to steal?
Get on a government payroll and join a union.

You're right. I work on "flipping" houses for an investor and he gave me two four year degree guys as laborers. Neither one knew anything about construction - nothing. In fact, the one asked me if he could use a tile saw to cut wood. The other one was freaked when he turned on a light above his head and touched the door, I flipped a 3-way switch to shut the light off. After a couple times of doing this, I saw him looking at the light as he opened and closed the door.

I said to the property manager, "I would be totally embarrassed to earn a four year degree and know nothing afterwards."

He replied, "You don't need to know anything about construction to be a construction manager." (another young college grad)

I then posed this question: "Would you hire a guy to manage a baseball team that has never played the game?" He was speechless.

Give me a worker with common sense and enthusiasm any day. A degree like these two had was practically worthless. (from a major university)
