Trey Gowdy just said a few things about the military in response to a stupid question from a CNN reporter about the ban of transgender. He nails it!
Nobody has a "right" to serve in the Military. Nobody. What makes people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer. Very far from it.
The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short. Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers. Poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identify as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can't run the required course in the required time? Can't do the required number of push-ups? Not really a "morning person" and refuse to get out of bed before noon? All can be reasons for denial.
The Military has one job. War! Anything else is a distraction and a liability.
Did someone just scream "That isn't Fair"
War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful! YOU change yourself to meet Military standards. Not the other way around.
I say again: You don't change the Military..you must change yourself.
The Military doesn't need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars.
If any of your personal issues are a liability that detracts from readiness or lethality...

So, whom do you speak of?
The question was about democrats but in general terms liberals who want everything for free.

If you use the "quote replay" we can better understand what you mean.

Amen and Amen I was refused because of Epilepsy. I guess that was unfair to expect to have some one take care of me while others fought a war how mean of them. I was listed as 4-F.

Under each and every post on OPP there are three tags. The first tag is "Reply" the second tag is "Quote Reply" and the third tag is "Report Issue". Now when yon press on the reply tag you can reply but it does not bring in the poster that you are responding to's post. By pressing on the Quote Reply tag it brings in the posters name and post and then you can add your comments either before or after that persons post. That way we all can understand to who and what you are posting or responding to. If tyou experience some issue with OPP then you can hit the Report Issue tag and that will let you send a message to administration. Hopefully this will help you in navigating your way through OPP.
cold, I agree with much of what you say. No organization has a right to violate the US Constitution. People that want to join the armed forces must meet certain qualifications to do their job. They must be in good physical shape, be young enough to do their job. Height is important as well. I know that the navy has height qualifications. Sailors must be below a certain height just to fit in a navy rack, ( bed ). People that weigh too much would not meet the physical demands that are necessary as well. Color, ethnicity, religion, and other traits must never be considered because that has nothing to do with ability to do their jobs. Personally, having served aboard a destroyer in the navy, I don't think that having women aboard ship is a good idea. Navy ships are extremely crowded, and I can see where having young women aboard ship with young men in extremely close quarters for extended time is contrary to the idea of good moral.

Great post. Social experiments have no place, (or at least shouln't have a place,) in the military

Sadly it seems if it's good for America the left is not for it.
All the left want is to be is domestic enemies.

I believe a lot of Americans are waking up to the fact that the left isn't some political opponent who has the best interests of America at heart, but sees a completely different course of action. The left certainly wants that "fundamental transformation", into a third world, banana republic police state. They have dropped all pretense of loving their country, revering individual liberty, and freedom of speech. They have throughout history been totalitarian in nature, and they still are. Their goal is power and control, and are they willing to do ANYTHING to get it.
