I once had a '57 Bel Air and loved it. Only problem I had was when I first bought it I couldn't figure out how to put gas in it.

I too remember dragging in my 57 Chevy against 57 fords.
If the fords always won, you must have missed a gear or something.
57 ‘s owned:
White convertible with red interior. 283 automatic. Had 2000 miles on it when I bought it. Bought from a used car lot on Irving park and western ave in Chicago
In 1964. Paid $750 for it.
Turquoise and white, 2 door. 283 , No post 3 speed on the column.
Purchased in 1969 from a private party for $900.00
Candy apple red, 2door , no post.
340 horse 327 with 4 speed Muncie rock crusher transmission and 3:11 rear end .
That car would smoke anything on the road.
Paid way too much for it but sold it in 1971 for more than I paid for it.
Always lookin for another one but they are way too expensive now for an old timer like me.
I can remember being with my dad in a Chevy showroom when I was nine years old and he was buying a new
57 Chevy and I told him to come and look at this little Corvette. He said son, that is a pretty car but where would your mother ride.
Old drag racers never die, they just miss a shift now and then.

Always was a chevy man myself but I don't remember fords winning.

it had to be souped

You're right about the looks. I was a Ford Kid but always appreciated that Chevy Beauty.

My cousin was into drag racing at the various strips in the area and he had a
41 coupe with a chevy mill in it and it had six two barrel carbs on it and those
exhausts glowed cherry red at night when it was idling. It was fast and he went
into dragsters after that. Drag racing even in the track is to scary for me.

Talk about fate, his parent were flying their small plane to kansas city and they got caught in something, wings broke off at 5000 ft and they fell to their deaths, years later my buddy was driving in rural Mn and a farmer blew a right a way and hit him broadside, killing him instantly, his little boy survived. Bad karma for that family.

That's really sad.
Cars were cool in the '60s.
My friend had a black T Bird convertible.
I also had a '65 T Bird. That was a pretty car.
