Just curious. I think of myself as a rather progressive conservative. I think about issues and decide whether I am for or against them and NEVER blindly accept what my party suggests. I am a republican by signing, but have to admit that I've been quite disappointed in my political party's choices lately. I am seriously considering going as non-affiliated simply because of all the loonies in EVERY party I've looked into so far.
When I say I'm a progressive conservative, I mean that I am not a "knee-jerk conservative"... I don't have much tolerance for either knee-jerk conservative nor knee-jerk liberals. So, anyone interested in defining themselves as far as political beliefs? Just curious and like to have non-violent discussions.

Although I usually vote republican, my political views would allow me to vote for any candidate that respects the constitution and its bill of rights.
I want the federal government out of the welfare business, even if that costs me my SS and Medicare permanently. I want the federal politicians to quit buying the votes of our country's most stupid, ignorant and lazy people with my tax money. I guess those ideas mean I'm not a democrat.
I want the federal government to stay out of wars that have no purpose. If you're going to war, go there prepared to kill everybody. Before you commit one young man's life to a war, be determined to win before departing. I guess that means I'm not a democrat.
I want to be left alone by government, as long as I harm no one else. The only protection I want from the federal government is to protect me from foreign aggression. The only thing I want from state government is to protect me from infringement upon my rights by other people, and the federal government.
Your right to listen to your loud music in your yard doesn't trump my right to lay in my hammock in my yard and listen to the crickets chirp, ... and your right to walk your dog doesn't trump my right to not have your dog crap in my yard.
I don't want any welfare from the government, regardless how bad things get in my life. I can take care of myself, and if I am unable to do so, I am prepared to meet my God. I also don't want to be forced by government to pay welfare for other people. They can take care of themselves, or they can accept whatever help is willing offered by those who are willing to offer.
You do whatever you want, as long as it does not interfere with my rights. If you damage, or destroy, or steal my property, I want government to force you to make reparations, and jail you if you don't. You and I have the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but I don't want government to give you happiness with my money.
Sounds like I'm becoming a libertarian.
