This week we witnessed two female comedians on opposite ends of the political spectrum each cross a line in order to attack a political opponent. Some Trump supporters have tried to position the two situations as equivalent, and some liberal voices have advanced the view that Samantha Bee's excessive language was justified. BTRTN weighs the question in "To Bee or Not To Bee."

Vulgarity and insult is sadly becoming more and more acceptable and Trump is partially responsible for its acceptance, however vulgarity is in no way the same as blatant racism which is not acceptable in a public figure.

Nice try lil guy. Roseanne’s always been an idiot in my opinion. Of course if a comedian would have called one of Obama’s daughters a cunt you guys would be whining racism and you know it. This other so called comedian, another idiot who’s already down 50% in viewership. People can watch or not.

If the epithet feckless applies to anyone, Samantha B takes precedence. She presents as a nasty, sleazy individual and I take great pains to never watch her programs. Neither of the two are in the least entertaining, they are Howard Stern class performers.

Ivanka is not a minor child and she accepted a post at the White House that her daddy made up for her, thus she is a public figure.

And if her feelings are hurt over the present day loss of standards regarding public language, she can look to the same source, her daddy.

Oliver Willis, a writer at the progressive news site Shareblue, unearthed a 1994 interview in which musician Ted Nugent used the same c-word to refer to then-first lady Hillary Clinton.

To show how Nugent’s offensive language has done nothing to impact his standing with Republicans, Willis tweeted a recent photo of Nugent shaking hands with Trump alongside the 24-year-old quote. He referred to the backlash as “fake outrage.”

...

The photo was taken on April 19, 2017, when Trump dined with Nugent, Kid Rock and Sarah Palin at the White House. The two musicians and one former vice presidential candidate also paused to take a sneering photo together alongside Hillary Clinton’s portrait.

Nugent’s incendiary comment about Clinton appeared in a July 27, 1994, issue of Westword, a Denver-based alt-weekly, in which he sounded off on an array of political topics.

“You probably can’t use the term ‘toxic cunt’ in your magazine, but that’s what she is. Her very existence insults the spirit of individualism in this country,” he said. “This bitch is nothing but a two-bit whore for Fidel Castro.”

Nugent has stirred plenty of controversy with his remarks in the past, as when he spoke about killing then-President Barack Obama at a National Rifle Association meeting in 2012. He never apologized for that comment.

Find me one racist thing Kevyy has said. If you are going to make such a devastating charge, back it up.

So you’re ok with a woman being called the C word because she’s a public figure. You liberals have so much class and tolerance when it comes to others of differing views.
