Just registered to join the discussion after lurking for some time. PeterS - when I read your comments I can't understand why your patriotic looking avatar isn't flipping us all the bird. Your unfettered hate for conservatives makes it difficult to examine your arguments dispassionately. As for the topic at hand, if you look at the constitution, the purpose of the census is to indeed get a count of all the people living within our borders. However, voting is for citizens only. What is wrong with using a tool like the census to help determine who has a right to vote and who does not. It makes a huge amount of economic sense to piggyback onto something we are already paying to have done rather than creating yet another tax dollar sucking organism to accomplish the same thing. Now, do people who shouldn't vote (deceased, illegals, non-residents, etc.) do so? Absolutely! And IMHO it's the reason Trump didn't win by an even larger margin in a number of states.

I have often wondered about that.. If the election process is so violated by the democrats, why the right wing is never willing to try solutions..

they love voter obstruction.. the cry and tear clothing when those laws are unconstitutional for one reason or an other..

I am doing phone work this year to get out the vote.. a vote is our ultimate solution to this embarrassment of this administration..

But the reason trump and clan wants this on the census is that it will intimidate legal citizens to not fill out the forms due to fear of getting others who are not citizens into trouble.

that in turn will reduce the number of people shown in the district and therefore limit the number or representatives in congress.

This was a result of the same thought process that created redmap which was used so effectively in gerrymandering..

Thanks for the welcome Permafrost. Do I believe your reasoning as to why conservatives want that question on the census? To some extent I do. There are definitely people who think that way. But are you saying that we should not make efforts to identify and remove people who are in the US illegally?

No, I have never said anything like that.. I am all for getting rid of Illegal aliens who are guilty of that misdemeanor of entering our nation with out proper paper..

But not for extending that removal to children and the harassment of people who are real Americans..

There are many purposes for the census. Here they are:
1. One is to know how many human beings are presently living in the United States whether they are citizens, illegals, criminals, terrorists Muslims or not.

2. The second is to know how many people living in the United States who are US citizens.

3. The third is how many people living in the United States who are illegal aliens.

4. The fourth is knowing how many people living in the United States according to their race. Like Whites, Blacks, American Indians, Asians,Muslim terrorists or not.

5. The fifth is how many are males and how many are females, or how many are gays/lesbians.

These are very important categories that the Census Bureau wants to obtain so that the government would be able to provide the proper services needed or proper discipline needed by these types of people.

Democrats, progressives, and liberals don't want to be identified or counted because they are hiding as criminals, using the criminal illegal aliens to vote for them, the MS13 as their armies to kill for them, the Mexican drug dealers to raise money for the democrats' campaign election.
