If we’d had the wall a long time ago, we wouldn’t have this argument now. We’d also be a wealthier and stronger nation with pride in who and what we are. Senior citizens didn’t invent Social Security but as a “working” people we have paid into it. They’ve used it to support people too lazy to work and illegal immigrants just here for what they get out of us. They’ve educated illegals and our families have struggled financially to get college education for our children. The people running our government are all crooks, and it’s our fault. We vote party line instead of researching the candidates for ourselves. But then that wouldn’t work either would it? If we’d tried that with Obama we’d be under the jail.

It's complicated but comes down to more people are living much longer. Trust Fund will grow until 2021. Beginning with 2022 - deficit. 2016 receipts - $957,000,000,000. Expenditures - $922,000,000,000. Surplus - $35,000,000,000. SS Trust Fund to disappear by 2034. SS, by law cannot operate in the red. By 2034 SS can only pay out 77% of benefits. However, our brilliant politicians are looking at fix's.
