The United States is a SuperPower and the only Super Power nation there is...Strip everything else out of the way and that is the reality..
The Great Powers were thought to be: Great Britain, France, Germany, the Dual Monarchy, Spain, Italy, the Ottoman Empire, Russia, Japan, and the United States. Spain was probably at the bottom of the list after the Spanish-American War, but still was included because of her colonial empire and strategic location. Gradually came possessing nuclear weapons which did not necessarily make a nation a Superpower, since using nuclear weapons was likely to result in Mutually Assured Destruction... I think we can all agree that is true..
Therefore Nations with nuclear weapons became Nuclear Powers. A Superpower is a Nuclear Power with the ability to project massive amounts of force almost anywhere in the world, and a demonstrated willingness to do so, when its interests are involved....
