This one is a rouser, I think, although the dead man can't tell us how he got that way. When people have AR 15s in the house it may be better for criminals to go next door or even farther away.

Criminals always run away when they are faced with an armed person and knowing that person is seconds from splattering him all over the woodwork..

Lock and load friends lock and load.

Although I own several ARs in different calibers my go to at home gun is a Mossberg 12ga. with an 18" barrel loaded with #1 buck. When hunting I either switch to a 30" smooth bore barrel or a 24" rifled barrel for slugs. The ARs are mostly for fun and in case of SHTF! Mike

For home defense, give me a shotgun any day. All my guns and ammo stay in my gun cabinet except the one I use for home protection. 20ga. single barrel. Breaks down in three pieces that can be assembled in less than a minute. That's how I keep it in my closet, ammo in a different place that I only know where. Bought the gun 48 years ago for rabbit, squirrel and varmint hunting. So that's my baby. By the way, her name is Candy. "Want some candy ?". Same name I gave my M4.

No sir, I won't take candy even from a friend under those circumstances. Thank you for the offer though. A question Sarge, do you have youngsters at home? If not why keep the gun broken down? I keep mine loaded without a round in the chamber because I want to use the pump to chamber a round, that sound in it's self will discourage most people who aren't totally wacked out on drugs from hanging around. Those who hang around will find that # buck will put them out of their misery quickly.

I have grandkids who have been raised around guns, know how to handle and shoot them. They also have been taught to not touch any guns at grandpas house and that particular gun is in my bedroom which is also off limits. I also have other loaded guns in almost every room but they are unseeable and untouchable except by me and totally out of reach of the kids. Mike

My home defense weapon is a Winchester Defender model 1300, pump 12 gauge with extended mag (7 shells, 8 with one up the spout), loaded with 00 buck. I keep it handy, like I don't have to open any lockers or safes and/or load it, all I have to do is grab it, snap off the safety, and go to work.

Your story sounds identically like mine I also live alone with grandchildren coming around they have been taught from a very young age the danger of playing with a weapon.

That's the problem today parents don't teach their children guns ate not a toy to play with.

At 83 and also live alone my first responder's are my two dogs (Daisy and Cujo) who quickly let me know if even a mouse is trespassing knowing I will back them up with my double barrel 20 Ga. In the small NV town where I live every house has a gun, hence, very little crime.
