The first time I heard gunfire, I was in my mother's womb where God gave me my marching orders. He told me not to worry, that when I breathed my first breath, I would know what to do. When I breathed my first breath, the first thing I smelled was gun smoke. By age seven, I owned my own semi-auto 22 rifle and I could knock the dust off a fly's ass at 100 yards. By the time I first learned we had a 2nd amendment, I was already a sharpshooter with my own gun, had fired thousands of rounds, and had taken many game animals and birds for food, including deer. Quite a few years passed before I became aware that there were real live retards and morons who hated me simply because I was an American exercising my God given, inalienable right to possess and shoot a gun.

That said, I, too, don’t want to see the 2nd Amendment repealed. I am in favor of restricting the availability of military-style weaponry from the general public. We already have restrictions on people owning tanks, weaponized fighter planes and naval watercraft, missiles, high explosive and armor-piercing ammunition, etc., etc. There is, in my opinion, no reason for the general public to be better armed than our military &/or local LEOs, simply because there’s no mention of the 2nd Amendment mentioning allowing the ownership of arms to be for fighting the government. Armed insurrections against our government have been tried in the past. President Washington led troops toward western Pennsylvania to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. But, the insurrectionists disbanded once they heard he was on his way to fight them. Another example is the American Civil War.

The Constitution allows the government to defend itself from armed insurrection. No matter how much one tries to convince themselves that the government is out to confiscate their weapons, under our present interpretation of the 2nd Amendment and in spite of what the NRA says (lies), government confiscation of our guns would never happen.

Where in the Constitution does it say anything about allowing the government to defend itself against an armed insurrection? The Constitution belongs to We the People, not the federal government.

You'd best read the commentary on the purpose of the 2nd amendment by the man who wrote it. See Federalist #46.
