No we didn't. The GOP ran a candidate who was a proven loser because he was one of the RINO pack. Add to that that northern Va. is mostly working for the federal govt. and won't mind this at all even though they are having problems with aliens already. Talk about tax dollars, just got my tax bill. I've always gotten money back despite trying to figure out ways to break even through withholding. Well the wife and I are retired and are on SS and for the first time we'll have to pay $2,646.00 to the federal govt. despite $15,500.00 in medical bills for 2017. That doesn't take into account $1000.00 in charitable contributions which we won't be making in 2018 but putting into an account to pay next years tax bill. Ain't America great under the azzholes in DC, both sides. Mike

No we aren't. No taxes taken out of SS on either of us and my wifes retirement is pretty high although it's taxed as is mine. I expected to take a pretty good hit and have been putting money aside for this occasion so we aren't hurt. I was just trying to alert those going to retirement that because you're not making as much money as before doesn't mean you're safe from high taxes. As in everything, prepare yourself for the unexpected in your elder years you're about to get screwed. Mike

Yep. If your provisional income (married couple) is over 44 thousand a year 85% of your SS is taxable. Sucks. SS should always be tax free.
