And yes it's typical of the weird ducks out there....

Late night host Jimmy Kimmel took to the streets of Los Angeles for a new edition of his “Lie Witness News” Monday, pranking pedestrians by telling them that former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had just died.
“There are a lot of presidents who we don’t know much about so we sent a camera crew out to Hollywood Boulevard today to tell people that Franklin Delano Roosevelt died,” Kimmel explained.

Hey Dutchess,

These kind of man-on-the-street interviews go back to the 1950s. Steve Allen pioneered this "art" form. The producers of the late night shows, collect numerous responses, then carefully cherry pick the most illiterate answers. Jay Leno did this in his segment, "Jay Walking". I guess you really are as gullible as you seem.

Anyway, Dutchess, how are things going with you and the Duke???

The car was invented many years ago, does that mean it is less valuable?
Slap stick comedy was done from time began, does that mean that people no longer laugh when they see it?
Fairy tales were told from beginning of time to scare kids, does that mean that they have lost their punch?

There are more examples, but............

Point is, does it matter when man on the street interviews started? The thing is, these people were stupidly funny and uninformed.

There is a difference between "illiterate," and "clueless." One need only observe the closest progressive to discern this.

There have always been uninformed, stupid people one can find to interview and get dumb answers, however, for the last 50 or 60 years the education system has outdone itself in producing masses of dumb, uninformed people. It is not hard to find them. Look at the government they have elected.

I wouldn't get to caught up in thinking most of those people were dumb.

I think that there are those that just played into the game being played. Stupid question stupid answer.

I really think that it isn't hard to lead a few people to give the response you want with a mike in their face.

Just leave most of what you lead people with out of the clip.

I think when one leaves post on this forum a thought should enter ones mind as to what some one could come up with by cherry picking your posts.

Technically, "dumb" means speechless. I did not perceive any of these people as being unable to verbalize their stupidity and ignorance. Some people may account this as funny. I find this level of cluelessness about American history appalling.

I used to wonder about Americans' ignorance of their own history, especially considering that others (immigrants, foreign visitors) knew our history better than most of my fellow citizens.
Then I figured out that most Americans think about the future more than the past, and I was comforted....somewhat.
