You are quite frankly wrong, and in this instance if you are wrong and not lying you should pay attention. As you can plainly see in the chart below 84% of Americans and 77% of gun owners support universal background checks. Further 68% support banning assault rifles and 65% high capacity magazines. Also worth noting is that majorities are against policies making it easier to carry or purchase guns. If you want to put your hands over your ears and hum so you don’t hear the truth be my guest, just know that ignorance is to your detriment.

I agree but it can only happen if parents are involved. Luckily for us we were in a fairly conservative area and our Daughter went to a school who's principle was old school hard core. Even with that we brought her up not with any political principle but the good book and common sense. We steered her in the direction we thought best and answered any questions from her honestly, no bias. We kept her so busy with activities, Brownies, Girl Scouts, softball, volleyball, camping, etc. which at times wore us out, that she didn't have time to get into too much trouble. Actually she didn't really need this because she naturally has a good head on her shoulders and is quite smart, except in math. She's also very competitive and tests her husband and myself all the time. At my age and having been retired for a while don't think I could beat her in a physical wrestling match but I can still mess her mind up with gullible stuff.

I'm one lucky dude. We all hunt and fish together, Mom, Dad, Daughter, Son in Law, two Grandkids. It don't get better than that. I'm gonna die a happy man. Mike

But unfortunately most of what they're being taught is leftist propaganda ... they don't realize they're "useful idiots" who will be discarded when the next "event" appears.

I wonder if the liberals even know what weapon was used in the highest body count at a school or even what that school was? The AR doesn't stand for ASSUALT RIFLE. It's a takes away from Armalite which produced the Colt design AR10 which is .308 originally.

To answer the question, it was Va. Tech., 39 dead, 9mm handgun. Mike

I'm not too sure why you liberals don't pay attention so listen up - THERE IS CURRENTLY VERY STRICT RESTRICTIONS ON SALES AND OWNERSHIP OF ASSUALT WEAPONS. There has not, that I'm aware of - been an "assualt weapon" used in any shooting anywhere in the United States. Why dont you educate yourself before you start spewing misinformation about assualt weapons. By the way, for you have the slightest clue what "AR" stands for? Here's a hint - it isn't "Assualt Rifle".

The gun laws are more than on the books but like immigration if they aren't being enforced don't work. More laws are just an excuse for congress shits to stay in office. Mike

"universal background checks", DONE! see National Instant Criminal System 1993 (NICS-instigated by the NRA) see also, FIX NICS ACT 2017
"keeping firearms away from violent or mentally ill" DONE! see ATF purchase/registration form 4473 (1968)
"restrictions on assault weapons" DONE! since the 30's because of the Thomson Machine Gun and its *drum barrel* (specifically to protect law enforcement officers)

IDEA? Why don't we as a Nation first educate our children with established FACTS so when their shot at *15 minutes of fame* arises they're better equipped to choose. Speak and Protest.

Lori, you are totally right and I believe it's intentional. You would probably know why before most. Mike

Hmmm...if it is already against the law to murder anyone...oh I know, lets have MORE laws that don't work.

It's actually a PEOPLE problem, not a firearm problem. Anyone notice that if guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns? Alcohol prohibition didn't work. Drug prohibition is a far worse failure & on top of that one, LEGAL Rx drugs are part of the equation. Most, if not all of the school shooters were on or had been on psychotropic LEGALLY PRESCRIBED Rx medications.

Another aspect is that Cruz was a walking neon sign shaped like a big red flag. Failures in law enforcement on many levels is part of this mess. FBI knew about the Boston kids & others they could have done something about. They also knew about Cruz. Cruz should have been stopped. He wasn't. So now we have to punish law abiding gun owners, restrict them & blame the NRA. Yeah right. That'll really work. Sheesh. The spirit of stupidity is really going strong these days.

I made payments so I could be an NRA Life Member. Now I am also going to join Gun Owners Of America [sans the gun ;-) Too expensive.]

Another part of the current mess is when Elohim, Nature's God, was illegally banned in violation of "Congress shall make no law establishing a religion...", where the "or prohibit the free exorcise thereof" part is ignored, our national mess started getting worse? John Adams [he was a US Founder] said that the US Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. This is what we have reaped after years of God is dead, there is no God, if it feels good do it, the playboy lifestyle was big, the sex revolution, banning volunteer public prayer & manger scenes...& on we could go. If people continue down that road...it won't get any better.

Like I said, it's a people problem, not a gun problem. If firearms were the problem, we'd all be dead.

If a rifle does not have a select fire capability, it is not an "assault rifle." If these semi autos are "weapons of war," then why have they never been issued to the military in a semi auto only configuration? If they are "weapons of war," I'll bet you could tell us which war they were used in.

But these kids are being murdered in classrooms. Democrats have been trying with common sense gun control but people like you think the only option is to do nothing. As a matter of fact Trump has been deregulating and making it easier to obtain guns. I hope to god that one of you’re loved ones never gets cut in half with an assault rifle but I guess the only way to wake up people like you is if it happens to you or you’re family. Other that that you're a Typical Trump supporter and could give a damm less.

Yeah, this is one of those arguments that come right out of the NRA can. Here's my very simple response. The NRA is NOT the authority on what a weapon of war is. So, you can hide behind your convenient definitions all you want but what defines a weapon of war is the intention behind the design not whether it was actually used by the military. I understand the NRA draws the line between what is fully-automatic and semi-automatic, but ANY automation is designed to maximize the speed with which a person can fire the weapon. Rapid fire, whether it requires a double-action finger or not is not necessary for hunting and it's rarely ever needed for self-defense, the point of rapid fire is to maximize killing capacity in battle, whether the Pentagon buys the weapon or not.

I'm not suggesting we ban all semi-automatic weapons... But I think we should ban large capacity magazines with which to feed them because if you have 6 or 9 rounds fed into a semi-automatic, that's sufficient for any civilian defending her/himself against crime. If you're asking for more, then you probably ARE the criminal.

So, since you are claiming to be an expert on firefights, tell us how many rounds you fired the last time YOU were in one? How do you know how many rounds it takes? How about it, sport? Are you speaking from experience, or just typical StraightUp know it all chicken kacky?

The intention of the design of a semi automatic look alike was not military use. The last semi auto rifle issued to the military was the M1 Garand in WWII.
Knives are rarely used for self defense either, but every year, year after year, they kill more people than ALL rifles. Not just the ones of which you don't approve. Oh, yes, BTW...what the HELL is a "double action finger?" Is it anything like the single action finger in my avatar which is sometimes directed at you?
You have not been in a gun fight. I have. You have not had to use a firearm to defend your life. I have. Mind telling me just where the F*ck you get the idea you know more about it?
