Think about it Perma, when do the police get to you ? After the crime has been committed ! I know what it's like to be the victim of violent crime. As of this time I usually don't use my ccw, but things are changing & not for the better !!! Lots of people police, FBI & others knew this kid was bad news. They did nothing until it was horribly too late. Seems we're in some kind of societal change, not for the better. We have to be able to take care of ourselves ! We have to get together & watch each others backs !

Let me look at myself for a minute..

I am a marine corp vet. a tour in Vietnam.. been with guns from before I started grade school..

Lived in an OK part of Minneapolis as a teen to near 30 except when i was doing the USMC thing..

the kid across the street was shot by the cops and was front page news for a week..

By a strange set of conditions I have known 14 victems or perps of murders.. My sister says this is incredible..

a teen age acquaintance told us one summer how he could kill his grandmother for not letting him do as he pleased. using a hammer behind the basement door, he did kill her the next winter..

a set of nuts, one guy and 2 gals... one gall stabbed the other 97 times and tried to cut off her head.. wrote messages in blood on a garage wall to the police..

I have seen a fair share and some of violence.. I do not like it , as i get older i care for it less and less..

As I said under some sort of conditions I would carry a gun..

But I never feel threatened.. so I can not see myself carrying that gun...

having a gun near at hand leaves a person open to using it.. if they are startled, sudden anger, or the little kid picks at the trigger..

So for me, the fewer guns at hand the better..

I like it up here by the lake in the far north.. Peaceful. lots of good people I am not afraid..

So much anger and guns feed it.. with a gun you must be a tough dude... so you must prove it..

Lot of guns in my house but none under my pillow or in any living area..

But I do understand you point..

In my neck of the woods most people have many guns and nobody ever shoots anyone. It's like a garage full of tools. They are just there if you want them, but nobody obsesses about them. People hunt and target shoot and brag about how much their guns are worth. Nobody is sitting with their fingers on a trigger. We can't figure what the big deal is.

The big deal is that the Progs need to undo the Bill of Rights in order to gain and maintain power.

When a serial murderer kills a lot of people we focus on the murderer. Some brain dead kid kills a lot of people and the idiots forget who he is and only care about the tool he used.

It's not a coincidence that all of this became more common after American society stopped valuing human life.

if I may, the "bad guy" usually doesn't use "assault weapons" to commit crimes. They seem to prefer handguns, much easier to conceal. The problem is the crazies who use "assault weapons" to commit their horrendous murders !! The problem is, 1.) a definition for crazy, 2.) who decides who's crazy. These terrible mass murders are on the top of my list, I have grandchildren in grammar school. This is a critical problem that ALL of the Americans should be dealing with. That brings us to item, 3.)how to deal with the mass confusion all the "solutions" are going to come up ?

I think that we all want to keep guns out of the hands of lunatics, felons, and the like, however, apparently the NRA can make a case for being able to buy nuclear missiles to our esteemed Law Makers.

I would like to get some opinions about this subject so please feel free.

I believe:

1.- That the FBI data Base must be brought up to date and that Laws must be made such that no gun of any kind can be sold or traded without a strict background check being done and adhered to.

2.- That Local Law enforcement must be charged with updating the FBI data base immediately as soon as a lunatic, felon, and so on is identified. Meaning that these people cannot obtain firearms, I think that we all are still asking ourselves how the Florida killer was able to buy guns and how the Vegas killer could amass so many weapons in a hotel room.

3.- That Laws must be passed to prohibit the manufacture of extended magazines, "bumps" and other forms of material that can change a one-pull, one-shot, weapon into a semi-automatic or fully automatic weapon.

4.- 1, 2, and 3 above must be zealously enforced by the FBI through detailed in-person inspections. I don't care if it will cost a lot of money, use up a lot of man power, etc. etc. it must be air-tight, and even then some will sift through. Making a few toothless Laws is a fruitless endeavor or is Chicago not the city in the U.S. with the most stringent gun Laws and still the murder capital of our country?

My thinking here is that Congress or no one else is going to ban certain weapons nor should they, because keeping any weapon out of the hands of bad guys should be centralized and enforced by the FBI.

I also think that the "KILL" games videos should be looked at very closely since they are "real" to many gamers and once they turn them off and start again the next day, all of the characters dead or alive are back there to do it again1 Is this good for kids?

Please feel free to comment, please make the comments civil so that others can chime in...

All semi-Automatics are one pull, one shot. Bump stocks do not convert anything, they facilitate faster one pull, one shot action.

The FBI does not make law, the Congress does. Permitting agencies to make law subverts the Constitutionally established tripartite form of government.

The database you desire will only serve to remove gun ownership if the individual had a felony arrest record. None of the mass murderers did. Further, even though some of these people were already on the FBI's watch lists they did nothing to forestall the crimes.

O.K. pafret, you know a lot more about guns than I do. I think that FASTER one pull, one shot practically fits the auto function. I did say that the FBI data base needs to include LUNATICS, not just felons. Where you got the idea that I wanted the FBI to make Laws is beyond me, I simply want the data base to include as many potential killers as possible. How about the gun shows? How about the failure of local Law enforcement to fill in the FBI data base. Other than try to impress everyone with your super gun knowledge, your only valid point was that many of the mass murderers were on the FBI watch list and the FBI did nothing to prevent the mass murders. I asked for comments, guess I should have said "Constructive comments"....

Not only that kids are getting killed in the US at the rate of 11 per day while driving and text messaging.
Is it the phones that do the killing?
Should they be banned from having cell phones?

Do you think that if some other object or condition kills more people the assault style guns do, that we then should ignore guns?????

Why not ??????????????????????

Authorities ignored reports that Nicolas Cruz was dangerous at least 39 times. Cruz WAS the object and the condition that was ignored. If this type gun was banned Cruz would have used some other weapon. In Austin Texas another crazy person has found another weapon of choice, bombs. Why do you not call for the banning of bombs ? Well ? Wait they are banned, aren't they ? It ain't the weapon. Really it ain't. Banning them gives stupid people a warm cozy sense of security that is false.

Nobody said ignore guns.

Why are you ignoring the much deadlier cell phone problem? Because the Democrat Party didn't tell you to feign outrage at cell phones?
