Newt Gingrich predicts massive GOP landslide victory in 2018

Newt Gingrich believes that a GOP landslide is incoming in 2018.

The former House Speaker published a column on Thursday in which he argued that the stark difference between the reality of the GOP tax law and the misinformation that the mainstream media has spread will be a boon to Republicans. With great power comes great responsibility. Liberals in the mainstream media and on the Capitol have done everything possible to paint the tax plan in a negative light.
But when taxpayers compare their income in 2018 with the bill of goods the media sold them, liberals will be in trouble, Gingrich predicts.
GOP Landslide “The great political surprise of 2018 will be the size of the Republican victory,” Gingrich writes. “After members of the elite media have spent two years savaging President Trump, lying about Republican legislation, and reassuring themselves that Republican defeat was inevitable, the size of the GOP victory in 2018 will be an enormous shock.”

Gingrich also zeroes in on the way the liberal media has distorted the public’s perception of the GOP tax plan. The “liberal propagandists” have brewed up a storm of misinformation surrounding the law. Democrats expect the tax law to sink the GOP’s approval ratings. But this is just more self-fulfilling party propaganda, asserts Gingrich: First, the media lied about the tax bill in an effort to convince most Americans their taxes would go up.
Then, the media took surveys of people who opposed the GOP bill based on the false information supplied by the media. Then, the media talked again and again about how unpopular the Republican plan was and how it was going to weaken Republican candidates in 2018. Then, the bill passed, and unsurprisingly, it turned out to be dramatically better for Americans than the elite media had described.

Tax cuts, Gingrich writes, will be a “proving ground” of the media’s dishonesty. Numbers don’t lie, and when Americans start seeing that they will actually save money under the new tax law, the media and the Democrats they support will be in trouble. Indeed, the tax plan was unpopular in polls taken in the weeks prior to its passage. This has much to do with the influence of the media, as demonstrated by a CBS report that Gingrich cites that interviewed three families who initially believed they would either not be affected by the law or else end up paying more.
A CPA told all three families that their taxes would go down significantly, much to their surprise — and indeed, most Americans will get a tax cut next year, CBS reports.
“The gap between the news media falsehoods and the dramatically better reality of the GOP tax cuts will have three huge effects on the 2018 campaign,” Gingrich writes. First, the American people will be convinced that the GOP can get things done; Republicans promised that taxpayers would keep more of their money, and when this becomes a reality, they will be pleasantly surprised at the GOP’s efficacy. Second, distrust in the liberal media will go up after taxpayers realize they were sold a pack of lies. This would damage the mainstream media’s ability to shape public opinion. Third, Democrats who voted against the bill will suffer the fury of their constituents once voters realize they will keep more of their money. The ten Senate Democrats up for re-election in states Trump won will especially be in trouble. The Republicans may not need much of a strategy after all, according to Gingrich: the Democrats and the media set their own trap. And we aren’t complaining.

Newt, like most Republicans, has totally underestimated the ability of the RNC to snatch complete defeat from the jaws of total victory. We are talking about people who are stupid enough to keep reelecting Mitch I'm a bitch McConnell instead of viable REAL conservative challengers. People who keep reelecting Congressmen who let Paul Lyin' Ryan continue as Speaker of the House.
Both of these dipsticks make extra money giving Democrat lessons to Chuck Schumer.

Loki: Totally agree!....The electorate has become completely inept, and is responsible for the current conditions in the Beltway!

Before you blame the politicians, remember they did not elect and reelect themselves. I can just see it now......
"Damn, Joe, we better stop screwing our constituents. They're liable to reelect us again if we keep this up."

You are correct Loki. Mitch is even worse than Ryan. At least Ryan has gotten some legislation passed in the house whereas Mitch lets it languish in the Senate.

I view this as a no brainer. Some on here may disagree, but this new tax cut is exactly what the

people of this country have been wanting for many years. No matter who is talking, Democrat or

republican. And it doesn't make any difference what state your in. All conversations sooner or later,

get down to taxes. ..... The government spending to much of our tax money ..... Hardly a day

goes by, taxes are not the number one subject on most news stations.

Oh I know republicans shoot themselves in the foot many time on a lot of subjects. But they won't

with this one.

Come back to this article six months from now and see who is right. - - - or at least who is closer to right. I for one believe the American public is smart enough to figure out which side of the bread the butter goes on. And once they see the money in their pocket the Trump haters will hang their head in shame for the doom & gloom they predicted. And if they don't I'll be glad to refer them back to this article. All ya all have a nice day and a happy new year.

When your keeping more money, because, your tax burden was to high, and President Trump had them lowered for you, are you still going to
say that?

You seem to conveniently forget, it was Hillary that said in a speech, she was going to make the middle class tax payer, pay more in taxes. And you still voted for her. That's sick!
