I've asked pretty much the same question.
"How much of every dollar that I earn should I be allowed to keep?"
They have no answer.
OK, let's see ...
We'll do away with the military, and you can defend your own turf or county or state or whatever. That'll cut down costs.
We'll do away with Social Security and Medicare and your parents can live with you and be supported by you and your non-existent medical plan. Oh, and do away with Medicaid and watch the ER's fill up with people wanting non-emergency care.
We'll do away with federal block grants for welfare, and see desperate people on the street begging, as well as on your street becoming criminals to stay alive.
We'll do away with the FAA and air traffic control, and let planes just go wherever they wish whenever they wish.
We'll do away with Ag inspected food, and food poisoning becomes commonplace because pesticides aren't regulated.
We'll do away with all our National Parks, and watch them be overrun with thumper trucks and coal miners.
We'll do away with the BLM and privatize all the federal lands. Watch for clear cutting of timber and strip mining for minerals, not to mention the extinction of wildlife and hunting going away because of no game.
We'll do away with the EPA and watch our water supplies get polluted (oh, wait, that's already happening).
We'll do away with the Transportation Dept. and end the block grants that keep our Interstate highways repaired. (Think the Minnesota bridge.)
We'll do away with the Justice Dept. and federal crime prosecutions. That oughta save a lot of money on prisons.
We'll quit enforcing and prosecuting drug laws because they cost too much.
We'll do away with law enforcement assistance grants and see local/state police agencies cut back on services.
We'll do away with the Coast Guard and all that maintenance to keep ports and waterways working. More money saved.
We'll do away with the regulators of the banks and stock market and see our bank accounts and investments get milked because there's nobody watching.
This is just a partial list of what the federal tax dollars do for you, regardless of how you think they should spend it.
Tell me your list of things that we should cut in order to reduce your tax bill and keep things going. This doesn't even begin to touch what state and local taxes do for you that you never think about.
Give me your list.
