A better start would be to vote everyone out of the House and replace then with FRESH talent. Additionally it would be great to also vote all those running in the Senate out and, likewise, replace them.
The Party is no where near as important as getting fresh ideas into Congress.

A very good idea. It would also allow a freshman Congress the chance to do some actual work, rather than protecting their special interests. The special interest lobbyist are currently writing all legislation as Congress persons are always occupied with fundraising. That's why they have to "pass it to find out what's in it", right now.

With lobbyists and congressional staffers doing all the work, we don't really need elected officials.

Never said anything about political parties. Agreed, they are part of the problem. The real problem is that ALL of Congress is so party/get re-elected entrenched that movement and/or compromise have become impossible. I don't care what party the fresh blood belongs to, there is a much better chance for the whole of Congress to get along, understand and react to others' position and finally come to a combined decision. This will allow the legislators to behave in unison rather than strictly majority party rules.
