I know that blind faith is weak. There is only one thing that builds faith and that is knowledge. I know if one limits their knowledge to sola scriptura and individual interpretation they fall into error. I know that doubt is acceptable and can lead to seeking truth while absolute denial is folly.

I remember a priest telling me before my own calling that if I had been a member of the Jewish hierarchy in the time of Christ and witnessed the things He did, there would have been no doubt Jesus was the messiah.They knew He was! Yet because all they saw was a man, knowing nothing of His dual nature and person, and because he was not the warrior king they expected, someone to take names and kick a$$, and because he called them vipers because they made the faith too hard for the common man to follow, they plotted to kill him. Politics then and now - no difference. My initial reaction at being told this was to get angry at our own clergy because it made sense and I was 40 years old and hearing this for the first time. Many clergy are taught the knowledge that builds faith but few really teach their flocks. I study every day, not new stuff, old stuff. There is more extant material available than a man can read in a lifetime: the patristic fathers, lives of saints, the history, the actual eyewitnesses, etc, etc, etc. The Christian faith in America today is weak and it is the fault of lazy and undereducated clergy. God is the greatest of all reality and science is not an enemy of God.
