Another dirty story about Common Core and what it is aimed at. It seems that a child (16) came home and asked to be home schooled. He had a good reason since his biology teacher had made those kids sing a song that praised Common Core. How in hell can parents allow their kids to go to a place where things like that happen?

Some friends came to us this week, troubled, to ask our advice. It seems their youngest son came home from school on Monday and asked – begged – to be homeschooled.

His request has been a recurrent theme during the past few months, but it took on a particular urgency on Monday when his biology teacher required all the students to sing a song praising Common Core.

I should add that this boy isn’t 6 years old. He’s 16. He and his classmates are long past the age of being amused by peppy propaganda songs.

While the federalizing of public schools has been going on for decades, the rapid push to capture our children has taken on a sense of urgency in the last few years. The government doesn’t just want our children’s bodies; it particularly wants their minds. If Nazi German taught us nothing else, it taught us this: Children are the currency of tyrants.

We gotta get the Feds out of education. We are, already, in trouble because the progressive radical left has been teaching our kids since the 60s. The complete conversion to communism has been going on for 60 yrs. In another 40 the total transformation will occur.

Parents HAVE to step up. It's no longer acceptable for them to relegate responsibility for their children to another. They are going to have to "bite the bullet" and refuse anymore Federal money. They are going to have to involve themselves in the course and lesson planning process. Until parents can find the time to do this, all discussions are moot.

When you called your subject hands off our children I thought it was going to be a post about the clerical child abuse scandals.

I have to think that too many have forgotten "1984". That is good for the present Big Brother operating in Washington, DC.

Billhuggins-exactly. Education should be at State and Local levels. Dismantle the Department of Education as a starter. We need to go one step further and that is to eliminate unions in the public sector. School Boards should have the right to fire a teacher who is not doing his/her job within the State and Local guidelines. Small towns and cities should not have to fight a powerful union to rid themselves of a radical employee. The largest beneficiaries of these unions are the bosses who enjoy a lavish lifestyle at the expense of the membership. You are absolutely correct that the system is rampant with lefties.
Good Luck America !!!

As a public school teacher for 28 years I learned the hard way that local school districts must be in control of their schools but by now they have been held back many times. I was removed from my job at 53 and just couldn't get another job at that time because I had too man hours of preparation, too many years of experience, and other things like that. All of them had been made up at the insistence of unions. For instance, we had to be paid according to preparation and time in grade. I had quit the NEA 10 years before my removal but the reason I was removed was the silliest thing of all. I had gone with another man, we were the strongest supporters of our Superintendent and thought he would listen to us about the new Principal in our school. The man played favorites and before long many people on the faculty were going to explode but they didn't have the guts to go to him. We did and by the time we got back to school the principal was waiting at the front door for us. We both told him we would repeat nothing we had said and that we wouldn't take part in anything like that again. They managed to force the other man out through psychological harassment but I refused to do so and had to be fired four years later. The other man was one of the best industrial arts teachers in the state and had many of his kind come to our small school to see how he ran things. Nobody gave a damn about that though since we had crossed the Big Boss.

You story is sad and it illustrates that you are a man of principle and great character. You just make me proud to know you. When I was 58 I tried to get a job with the county but, in spite of scoring high on tests I was never hired. So I started a business or two and scored a 6 figure net right out of the box. I didn't need that 5 figure job after all.
