California has wonderful universities Stanford University spawned silicon valley and California's public school system ranked in the top three for generations. It was common practice for the state to provide free tuition to a public college or university to high school grad who graduated in the top one third of their class. Then we elected Ronald to be governor and every thing began to change, He closed all the mental institutions but one for the criminally insane and two Republicans got a proposition on the ballot that rolled back property taxes to six years earlier and only allowed taxes to be increased with two thirds majority vote and amended the state Constitution. The measure saved IBM $90 million the first year and and similar companies all over the state also saved millions like they really needed it. In the mean time it robbed billion's from the public school system. High schools had to give up sports like foot ball Schools had been financed locally with property tax. The stupid proposition forced the state to take over the schools. We Missisippified our public schools now it cost nearly as much to attend the public college's and universities. Between 1911 and 1966 the taxpayers of California built 300 college and community college campuses. Roads, highways , the seven bridges that span the bay and their modern replacements. Tunnels, the California water project with dozens of reservoirs, canals ,and pumping stations, the most ambitious water project in history of mankind al of this was during what came to be called California's progressive period. All of it was public works projects, 20 million more people are sucking on the system our predecessors built and 1966 when Reagan became governor all progress stopped the era came to an end and we went through a conservative period we are only recently began escaping that legacy of the last 50 years. I will also state again for the record, for me to not take a person seriously, I need a little wink, smile, or nudge.... In other words, I am humor impaired. But, to be fair, the video was funny, but not in a fall off the chair laughing but more waggish because it took all the harmful propaganda and put it into a format that showed exactly how many today see us. I did find my daughter's other jokes on that thread, but not the video.
