It was named mad cow disease because in America, the 1st cases of it was among cows and found to be the product of having the brains of the slaughtered cow used in the meal prepared for cows. In human beings it is known as the laughing sickness because one of the symptoms of this disease among cannibals is uncontrollable laughing when things aren't funny.
