PIAPS has already called out the NRA for their support of silencers/suppressors. She stated, "Imagine how many more deaths if he had a silencer." What she and the left don't know is that not ONE lethal round would have even reached the crowd as you have to use sub-sonic (slow speed) rounds with suppressors. He was shooting over 500 yards. Suppressed ammo would not reach his target unless he was mortaring which would hurt your head if hit but wouldn't be lethal. Mike

When I was active duty, I was told that you can't use a 'sound' suppressor on a full automatic weapon because the baffles fill up with carbon residue and it quickly becomes ineffective. Second point that is usually overlooked by most folks is that it is only possible to suppress subsonic rounds. You can suppress the muzzle blast of a supersonic bullet but the bullet makes a loud crack as it breaks the sound barrier. If suppressors were effective on guns like the AK-47 or the M-16 then the military would issue all such weapons with a suppressor. You can suppress the sound on a 45 ACP or a 22LR because they are subsonic rounds. The muzzle velocity of the M-16 is almost three times the speed of sound. It can't be silenced. The silencer argument by the gun ignorant leftists is bogus.

You shouldn't use a suppressor safely unless you are using sub-mach ammo. The house clearers do use suppressors but do use the correct ammo. Close quarters doesn't take hi-powered ammo. Mike
