ORIGINS: The above-quoted story about two armed illegal aliens killed during an attempted home invasion by an 11-year-old shotgun-wielding girl was posted to

Although the account was widely cited as a validation of anti-illegal immigration and/or pro-gun ownership positions, confirmation of the tale as a real-life incident was lacking.

The only documentation for this item was numerous

web sites all citing the same information, with no details of time or place

(other than a reference to Montana). Searches of news databases (including Montana-based newspapers) failed to turn up any corresponding news stories containing any of the four names provided, and the name of one of the putative criminals (“Ralphel Resendez”) just happened to echo an alias (Raphael Resendez-Ramirez) used by Angel Maturino Resendiz (also an illegal alien), the infamous “Railroad Killer.”

Although many versions of this item cited the home invasion incident as having taken place in Butte, Montana, that area’s sheriff said no such thing had occurred in that city:

So what you are actually saying here (whether you mean it or not) is that it doesn't matter if the story is true or not, what matters is the effect it has, providing a "sense of justice in a very sick society". I get that. That's what makes for some great movies, the sense of justice when the good guys finally catch up and beat the bad guys. I just wish more people understood the difference between the simple fantasies in movies and the infinite complexity of real life.

BTW, the story *IS* fake (not surprising that Fox reported it) and the sense of justice in this case is an unjustified endorsement of violence against immigrants. It's actually saying that it's cool for a child to shoot illegal immigrants. I think that's pretty disgusting.

In Goathump Texas a nine year old girl looking for her kitten in a closet lost her balance and grabbed her fathers 12 gauge side by side shotgun which accidentally discharged. The resulting blast and recoil knocked the kid in the head requiring 22 stitches, 00 buckshot from the weapon went through the closet wall in the single wide trailer blowing the privates off her grandfather who was sitting on the toilet and the face off her mother who was kneeling in front of him. The child, who the local prosecutor deemed demonically possessed was charged with felony murder and is expected to be hanged after being found guilty by a local jury.

probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11-year-old
Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems these crooks never learned two things:
They were in Montana, and Patricia had been a clay-shooting champion
since she was nine.
Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the
front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and
grabbed his 12-gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor, only to be the
first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the
11-year-old's knee-crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen
and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left
shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death
before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen
45-caliber handgun he took during another home invasion robbery.
That victim, 50-year-old David O'Burien, was not so lucky. He died
from stab wounds to the chest.
