tommymore, I too am a diehard liberal. I respect other peoples views that may be conservative even though I don't agree with them. I think it's a good idea to separate the conservative ideas from reactionary ideology. Sometimes they overlap, so it isn't easy. Anything that smacks of racism and/or anti- Semitism is reactionary, not conservative, and ought to be rejected by anybody that believes in democracy.
Trump is no conservative. He is far more dangerous than that. He isn't a populist either, he is a Trumpist. What I mean by that is he likes the cult of personality being built around him. In his mind, he is the alpha and omega of all political, social and economic action. He is the greatest narcissist that ever occupied the White House, and thats saying something. He is also a pathological liar. He can't seem to not constantly lie to the American people. He is ignorant of presidential protocols and demands personal loyalty to himself, not the constitution. He has a history of sexual aggression against women that he doesn't even know. These traits and others make him unfit to be president.
Having said that, there are some Republicans I could never imagine supporting like Pence. This man has sold his soul to big tobacco and other nasty lobbies. He has no idea of the future consequences of allowing the super wealthy continue to grab all the marbles. On the other hand, I could see a Republican like Haley, McCain or even Graham in the office of President. I don't know if I could vote for any of them, but I wouldn't be disgusted as I am about Pence, or people of his ilk.

Popeye, thank you. Trump is unfit to be president. So is Pence.
