where you're getting confused is you are making the mistake of villifying communism to extensively,actually socialisim would be the greater evil over communisim ,it is in fact capilitisims economic counter part and is regulitory by nature and is right up there with other liberty suppressive political doctrines .
You don't have a precise Idea of what communisim really is,there does not exist in the world to day a true state of communisim,nor a true state of democracy.Think about the root word in communism, c o m m u n i t y,the people as a whole,each individual makes up the community.For the most part in a true state of communism the individual is on his own and in its truest state there isn't a ruling entity,No Government.The power of rule is vested in the people as individuals,does that not sound like a democrat,power vested in the people.On the other the republican boast of some dynamic figure [so he thinks] that wants the ability to rule over the lesser individuals, believing that the individual does have the powers to guide themselves in the most efficient manner possible inableing them to reach those goals that are desired.

I agree, there isn't a true state of communism in its original ideology existing today, nor socialism, but I would have to disagree with a democracy, we are a democracy in the sense defined as a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives( our electoral college ) group by the majority of its members. It was/is created by the people.
