Hmm, could you rephrase your statement? Is this another test of the validity of Poe's Law?
Is irony called irony, because it is hard (to understand) like iron?

No, it is called irony because it's ironical and like iron hard to penetrate. Exchanges such as this often become not just redundant but repetitious as well and they tend to cover the same things over and over again and again and again but also agayne and agayne and agayne. But I didn't say that I didn't say it, I said that I didn't say that I said it. I want to make that perfectly clear. Do you understand?

See, Texas wasn't part of the Confederacy. Those aren't my heros. Nor, are they yours.

However, it IS a part of the history of this nation, and it shouldn't be removed because a certain group of people need a hug every time they think about it.

I agree with you on this one, we are who we are by our past actions and how we've pulled through them, if anything they're a good topic opener when gazing upon them.

Well, that is part of YOUR problem, since texas WAS indeed part of the confederacy, and here is a list of the states and the date they seceded from the union.

Glad that helps clear up the gaps in your knowledge of history.

State that comprised the confederacy

1. South Carolina (December 20, 1860)[64]
2. Mississippi (January 9, 1861)[65]
3. Florida (January 10)[66]
4. Alabama (January 11)[67]
5. Georgia (January 19)[68]
6. Louisiana (January 26)[69]
7. Texas (February 1; referendum February 23)[70]
Ft. Sumter (April 12) and Lincoln's call up (April 15)[71]

11. North Carolina (May 20)[75]

I couldn't believe it when I read that. Texas was indeed in The Confederacy & had a better claim to sovereignty than most of the others, having been an independent country for years.

Some simply reject the truth, even to the extent of "Remember the Alamo"

Thanks for educating those that don't even know their own states history

When I was in the NAVY in the 1960s I don't think any people that I met knew more about
their State history or were more proud of their State than Texans.
People from the South in general seemed to know a lot about their state's history.

Growing up and receiving all my schooling in Texas, I definitely was taught a lot about a "version" of my state's history.

Why, it is that trump WON the election and hillary lost, so get over it and accept that trump is president.

That is a true enough statement, so why do the rightwingers, rebels, southerners and their supporters, and confederates fail to accept that the south LOST the civil war, repeat they LOST, and losers did not get to set the agenda.

What is it that those aforementioned are so fond of saying?

Oh yeah, they are BUTT-HURT big time, and still need some salve or ointment for the pain

I sort of get what you have said, not sure, but it seems that you are saying that the south lost the war and should now accept the removal of all vestiges of that war which apparently you feel was only about slavery, else why would you want to remove the statues??

The removal of the statues, whether in your mind like this or not, is because they represent a fight to maintain slavery and were owners of slaves. I would ask at what point does it become too much and why is this a "now " issue? There was a self proclaimed black president for eight years and this never came up, not until Trump won and he is perceived as a racist. To me the removal of these statues is simply a smack back at the president for his perceived racism and has absolutely nothing to do with slavery and the civil war. If it truly does, then we need to take down the Washington monument and get Washington's face off that mountain in Dakota!! And the list would go on and on.

Add to that, the majority of the population of all races support leaving the statues and simply adding a plaque of explanation regarding the slavery issues and the racism involved. Why are we going to capitulate to a very vocal minority who are not even concerned about the racism issue in the first place, but are simply looking to do a "gotcha" at president Trump?????? He won the election, remember!!?? LOL!

And the argument has been made that segregation and Jim Crow were smack back at the Union for the loss of The War for Confederate Secession & the extortionate excesses of Reconstruction.

You are correct, it is time for the sore losers to accept the fact that President Trump won and is now OUR President and it is time for all sides to work with the President to do what is best for the country

I for one have wondered, for at least 50 years, why in the United States of America we have been afflicted with these monuments to faithless traitors to the United States of America? But in the interests of frugality, let's not remove them or put up explanatory plaques. Let's cut off the noses of these "beautiful statues" or maybe put big red clown noses on them.

It was the Union people who were the traitors.

No, the Union WON, they were the VICTORS, and despite lies, distortions and denials, the south, confederacy, or rebels, LOST the war they STARTED.

Too damn bad so many of them still want to keep fighting the same old war
