Yep, dogs, kids, visiting folks, whatever gets on your land and causes a problem. I had some kids who took a notion to wander over to my place and play with my stuff. Their Mother refused to do anything about them, so one day, when I saw them hanging around here, I put on my BDU's, a Halloween mask, grabbed one of my katana's.....and chased them back home. She called the cops too who thought it was funny as hell.

They haven't been back since.

I've talked to them 3 different times about keeping them at home, but they don't see a problem.
Well, this morning, 2 of them decided to have some "fun" with my horse. Pissed me off!
The last time he was run through the fence by dogs cost about $900.00 at the vet.

So I went and told them AGAIN that they need to keep their dogs at home, because if I see them on my property, I'm gonna shoot them.

They didn't like that, called the Sheriffs Dept. and reported me for threatening them.

After the back and forth, I'm in the clear with a green light on their dogs.

I hate to do it, but it's what I'll have to do. That horse is priceless to our family, and I will defend him at all costs.

BTW, The Deputy told me that if their dogs are within the boundaries of my property, I don't even need a reason to kill them. And, if those people give me any trouble over it, call, and they will take care of it.

There is now a 25.06 parked by the back door.

I agree, poisoning is cruel. I would shoot them and dump their bodies where no one can find them, and where they will not attract predators. Don't dump the bodies on the neighbors door step no matter how tempting that might be. they are probably vengeful idiots. If necessary take the bodies some distance away where the vultures can get them but no coyotes can I have heard of coyotes eating dog carcasses .
Hope your horse will be all right.

That's my plan NPP. There is a canyon a few miles to the West of us that is the perfect place to hide a body.
The horse can handle a single dog pretty well. He has killed two already, and maimed another. But when they gang up on him, he gets freaked out. Hopefully, they'll keep them at home now. They have a fenced yard, but have chosen to leave the gate open, and let them run. Go figure.

There's an option. Paintball guns are very accurate and you can shoot the dogs as many times as necessary.
On the other hand, if you gotta kill them, you gotta kill them.

Just curious how you will handle the situation if you do shoot the dogs. Of course if you shoot just one, the other may run away, never to return again. Keep us posted of any new developments.

I've hit two of em hard with the pellet gun that my grandson kills rabbits with, and they still come back. It wasn't that big of a deal until I saw those two gang up on Buster yesterday. Now it is. I understand that a dog will make an esscape now and then, and go explore. Hell, I used to shoot every dog that crossed my fenceline. I've just gone soft, and it's time to harden up again.

Especially on people like them who think that it's OK to let their dogs run loose, and bother, injure, or kill other people's animals. On top of that, to call the Sheriff's Dept because me telling them that I would kill their dogs if they were on MY property is akin to threatening THEM!

NOPE!! I'm done!

I'll only get one at a time, but when only two of their three come home, they may think about it a little.
I'll put the body in a feed sack, and go drop it in a canyon. Done deal.

Can the dogs be caught? If they can, catch them and turn them over to animal control. If the owners have to pay to retrieve them, they may think twice about letting them run. If the owners refuse to pay, then your problem is solved and you didn't have to shoot the dogs. Dogs, horses, in fact, I'd find it difficult to kill most animals.

you must live in the city.where i live we have packs of wild dogs and they have brought down a couple of calves.I have shot several dogs and intend
to keep it up.maybe if the dogs would come over to your place and tool a part of your pay check you would warm them up to.
