But, they can make the same amount of money by using domestic oil and selling it to us at a lower price. Right now, by the time they add on the shipping charges and refining costs, and higher delivery costs, the price is putting most of us back on bicycles or roller skates, or feet. This stupid government is restricting the use of our own oil, forcing us to cater to camel jockeys, and letting them sneer at our stupidity. How can we get this stupid government to cut off all external oil contracts, and use our own until the foreign price comes down to a reasonable level. Now we are held hostage to gunga din, and have no leverage to negotiate because of our own stupid policies. We need a new sensible regime in congress and POTUS. But, can you believe any of them to do the right thing? They are all bought and sold in the back room.

The vast majority of the politicians presently in office couldn't care less about the people that they were sent to Washington to represent. Most, certainly not all, are their for two reasons number one enriching themselves, number two power and prestige which helps to achieve number one; that is why they are there. I don't care what they say how they act in front of cameras; there is one agenda and one agenda only. Anyone that thinks otherwise is an idiot.

The decision to cap domestic oil sources was made long ago, to prevent a disaster of running out of our own oil..Oil co encouraged it and became policy under Reagan or Bush Sr.. It remained policy until Obama changed it so that now we are our own major source of energy... The oil co even runs commercials on the subject.... The choice of which batch of oil to purchase on any given day is a business decision made by each oil co. Our government does not get to make it for them...If you want a change, contact the oil co of your choice... It is called "free market" How free do you think it is?

The number of drilling permits granted was large at first, because these permits had been approved by the Bush Administration. Since then, new permits are down by more than 60%, except on private land that the government has little control over. For now.

It does seem a little funny that imported oil sets the market price. Domestic oil is cheaper, so, if we're using more domestic oil than imported oil, then why is that happening?

That's my question too, If we are using domestic oil, why the heck are we getting ripped off at domestic prices. Is it just because they can charge that much? They could charge anything them, we are trapped. There has to be some changes here to keep the economy growing, and unnecessarily high prices aren't it
