I didn't say Mexico was taking back California It is now & will remain part of the US.

What I was getting at is there is a a large Spanish presence in California now. They are a large part of what is going on there now.

Not unlike the influence they one had in the 1700's & early 1800's

Some people have no sense of humor whatsoever. Or maybe it is an absence of wit. They just don't get it unless it is spelled out in 2-3 letter words.

I think what I meant to point out was the irony of it.

The people in the 1700's & early 1800's were there legally, and did not cross a border leaving their home country and entering a neighboring country. Are you suggesting that since some people travelled there freely in the 1700's & early 1800's, that Mexicans are naturally entitled to move to California now without following imigration laws?

One does not follow from the other. That is why I was questioning your meaning.

Was it more or less just open country & part of Mexico then?

What makes some acts fair & others much like them unfair?

Is might makes right the best way to have things done?

Our way may be the right way but is it the fair way now & has it always been fair?

Why don't you tell me your answers to those questions and I will tell you if I agree or disagree.

You seem to be like the Democrats, always wanting the Republicans to propose a solution, and then trash the Republicans. They are not interested in the answer or solution only in a chance to trash the Republicans.

That seems like what you are baiting me for.

My answer is, don't complain or criticize unless you have a suggestion to fix the problem. If you are not willing to offer your ideas, you have nothing to offer.

I was not really looking for you answer. It was more in the vain of food for thought.

Why do you expect me to think, but you never expect it of yourself, or if you do, why are you unwilling to share the results of your thoughts?

The issue was all about my thoughts & views on it.

The world will not stop or get better because of what I said.

it is my hope that we read what each other say in the hope to better understand each other. We do not need to go over thoughts & ideas with a fine tooth comb.

As we read & write back & forth we will have a better understanding of how we think.

The end I am looking for is that we come to see each other as people needing to create a place that we can live with peace & understanding.

There is no back and forth if you don't put forth your viewpoint.
