Huge Win: NC Senate passes Convention of States resolution
Posted by Convention of States Project on April 27, 2017

We have great news from North Carolina!

The State Senate passed the Convention of States resolution yesterday on a 29-20 vote.

This is a hard-fought win for our team in the Tar Heel State, and we couldn't be more proud. It was touch-and-go for a moment, as we weren't sure whether we would be able to make the crossover deadline.

But our team in NC was able to convince Senate leadership to move our resolution to the Special Elections Committee, which passed our resolution and pushed it to the floor for a vote. The next day, the full Senate voted in favor.

Now it's on to the House of Representatives! If you live in NC, there are two things you can do.

First, thank you senators! Here are the senators who voted in favor.

Second, contact your House Rep. and ask him or her to support SR 36 when it comes up for a vote. If you aren't sure who your representative is, you can look them up here.

If the House passes SR 36, North Carolina will become the 11th state in history to call for a Convention of States to limit the power of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and mandate term limits.

Since you seem to be up to speed on this do you know how many states have agreed to a convention of States?

Be careful what you wish for. If we have a "convention of states" you put the constitution in jeopardy of change. Think about it. You know the first thing the ruling class will do is remove the 2nd amendment. That is the one amendment that keeps them in line to obey the rest of the amendments. We can not let those DC thugs get control of changing our only way of controlling our fate. THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES. Thankfully it takes 35 states to make those changes, so far 11 have made the mistake North Carolina just made. Don't give away your rights.

I can assure you the 2nd amendment is not at risk. If you knew how an Article V convention works, you'd understand that. None of the states that have passed resolutions in favor of a COS are Blue States.

It's a bloody shame how many people living in America are constitutional illiterates.

I realize it can be a two-edged sword. I will study up on it and see if I can enlighten myself on the process.

I thought that also but wasn't learned enough on the subject to make a statement of fact. Kinda sounds like the majority of politicians for this would be of the Conservative persuasion.

No............the Congress has the final say on the convention. The states can convene, but not control, a convention!
