I delivered the Washington Evening Star when I was little. (late 1960's) I helped my neighbor, the paperboy, deliver his route and subbed for him in Arlington, VA. There was one house just blocks from us where, if their front door was open, there was quite the panoramic view through their back picture window of DC across the Potomac, and beautiful. Those were the good old days in my childhood.

I admire anyone who reads a newspaper from front to back. Reading it does not equate to believing what you are reading.

Very true!!! Given all the muckers I have crossed paths with, they do quite well indeed!

I had an old iron like (tubular) twin bed up by my porch in my driveway to clean, eventually. One day I noticed a note with a phone number. My bed was gone. The woman deemed I had put it out for trash. I asked her, "Was it on the curb?" I let her keep it, as her burden and now tainted. I used to see it in a flowerbed when I would drive to the next town over. I moved from the area several years ago.

The way we see the worst of them behaving in the streets right now is nothing compared to the mindless mobthink America would be subjected to if they aren't squashed, charged and imprisoned! I spent over 2 1/2 for much less. I'm assuming (because I give folks the benefit of the doubt) that the rank and file's orders come from above, but, during my time in prison I had ample opportunity to observe the habits of prison guards and realized at that time that all it would take is a change of job description and some of those dudes would have volunteered for oven duty at Auschwitz. People, even the police, the national guard and the military who we trust can be swayed by the times just like anyone else.

After. 2000-2003. I did two college papers on the prison system in CA afterward. My unique perspective earned me an A on both.
