If shtf how would you provide not only for family but for our fury friends.
I keep seeing these adds about preparing for natural and man made disasters. I'm 66 I'm sure not going to bug out as they say I feel lucky to just go to work and make it home. Because of all the hatred and anger I have gotten a license to have a gun but have not gotten the courage to buy one. Like me my dog is no young thing. And is not alert anymore so not able to depend on her to hear what I cannt which is why I have them in the house with me most of the time. I started to wonder what would you stock for your self AND pets cause you can not forget to take them into account. So opp what would you do?????????????????????????

Oh a pump 12 gauge with buckshot should do.
First you need to stock up for your self, dogs can survive on scraps from your meals, cats will eat what they catch if you don't feed them. I'm 55 and have no plans to shelter in place because I have several options even knowing I live in Komifornia. I would suggest buying a baseball bat and a Red Ryder and several bottles of 6000 rds of BB's. Start practicing with the Red Ryder and you should get to the point where you can shoot the eye of a human that is attacking, then beat them with the bat, leaving plenty of food for your pets. This will leave you with the marksmanship to take out any rodent or bird to feed your pet or self. This is not written as a joke, I'm serious, you just need to be able to clean what you kill.

I have thought about this. I would do the best I could for my family, myself and my pets. Then leave everything else to God

My instructor (25yr Mesa cop) also told us that the best home defense weapon was indeed a 12 gauge, but with a VERY high powered flashlight taped to the barrel followed by these instructions:
1) In the dark, point the shotgun in the direction of the noise and immediately and silently turn on the flashlight, blinding the intruder (and hiding your identity)
2) Pump a round into the shotgun
3) Clean up the mess after the intruder craps his pants and flees your yard/home
