The military complex has gotten so large it's no longer simply about training young men and women to defend us. In essence the military has become a huge corporation with bureaucrats and politicians using portions for profit and votes. Trump will have to be one hell of a business man to straighten out the process. Our rank and file is made from the best people I have ever met. The bureaucrats, not so much.

And it seems We have always - all ways - come-up short on Support...

Badbobby,
The solution is simple, DRAFT EVERY SON AND DAUGHTER of every elected official FIRST and then the children of ther rest of the population, starting with the weathiest and working down so that the poorest would be drafted LAST with NO EXCLUSIONS PERIOD! And that wealth to be calculated from their GROSS income with no deductions at all! And their children to be drafted from the eldest child to the youngest! Problem solved! Any elected official who does not agree with this should be charged with TREASON!
Now that's a bright idea
Any one else agree with this? Give it a

While I agree that every American should have skin in the game when Americans are in harms way, I can't figure out how a war tax would work. Does the Congress have to declare war for the tax to come into play? Neither Vietnam or Korea were declared wars. How about the invasion of Panama? Grenada?

Does any use of US troops by the President trigger a war tax? The 'war on terror' has been going on for 15 yrs...should Americans have paid a war tax for those years? War tax for the hunt and demise of Bin Laden?

Americans already support the military to the tune of 600 B per year, isn't that already a war tax?

I'm not sure that a tax to support the troops actually would put more civilian skin in the game....pay the tax, patriotic duty done, back to black Friday shopping.

A draft....that would literally put some skin in the game. And perhaps apply a brake on foreign adventures by our government.

One of the whines and wails of the grievously uninformed, AKA The Progressives, was over George Bush's "unfunded war." I mean these people are so woefully ignorant that they must have thought that before we could legitimately go to war we had to save up the money in our little war savings account. Of course we know that it is the Congress that appropriated the funds. I've still got stamps from WW2 that when enough were saved they could be cashed in for a US Savings Bond to support the war. Understand Obama's Fed is no longer honoring some of those old bonds today. In this age of Obomanomics, if we had need and cause to go to war with China we'd have to borrow the money from them to build up our military before we could fight them, thanks to Barack! Your leading from behind strategy will define your legacy. In the military we called your style of leadership, cowardice! Things are about to change abruptly.

To Robmull: I Agree on the funding, BUT ,
Absolutely, NO WAR, Or "Conflict", Or , "Police
Action",(whatever that was during Vietnam),
UNLESS, You Are In IT, To WIN IT!!! NO More
"Policing The World", Wasting The Live's Of
Brave, Loyale, & Patriotic, Young American's &
Accomplishing, Nothing!! IF WE MUST FIGHT,
It Should Be; VENI-VIDI-VICI, Short & Sweet!!

Johnson didn't wage war, he "escalated conflicts." And then realized he couldn't figure out how to end the war. Thus he declined to run again, in 1968. Nixon ended that "dirty Asian war" (Peace with honor), to the detriment of the Vietnamese.
I wish Congress would pass a temporary war tax on goods and services. The tax could only be added when troops are in harms way in either a declared war or conflict. Every US citizen should have skin in the game. Maybe then people would pay attention to the sacrifice of a few. [
I like it but as is every tax they pass even if a temporary tax as income tax was to once be, they become permanent taxes and we never know where the money goes or what it is truly used for...

Soon enough it is grouped together just as a tax and then forgotten....

How do we insure this special tax is only for the purpose intended and not stolen from the revenue generated like they have done in SS and MEDICARE??

I would Gladly pay it if there was some positive assurance it in fact was used for our men...
