It has been 30 years since Congress last touched Social Security. Reform is urgently needed to protect the nation’s elderly and disabled from poverty and its younger generations from an increasing and economically harmful tax burden.

This issue has been neglected for decades..The Chained consumer price index has been criticized for cutting back the increases that recipients receive, raising the age to qualify is on the books now for quite some time...age raised from 65 to 66 for my bracket..the phase out would help if it got through congress.. Also they could consider raising the level of income which was subject to the tax. I know this was tossed around some time ago and is a tough nut to push into law..But for all the youngsters around this does need to be worked out and the sooner the better..

Can a person draw his Social Security and a disability added as well? Who decide if claims are valid?

What SS needs is for the politicians to stop stealing the money and to repay it from their own pockets, with interest.
