To begin with I suggest you do a thorough look in depth at the quality of care, length of waiting times for specific services and types of care, list of priorities of specific types of care, and outcomes of that related care in those countries with nationalized health care.

Then ask yourself, why do those who have the money come from those countries and travel here for care?

If you look deeply enough you will see the flaws. They are not good. Our system has been far the best in the world for a long time.

Ask yourself why the ACA all but eliminates interstate insurance competition? The competition for your dollar is what kept costs down. Not near far enough, but it was the best check available other than containment by law.
.
So why isn't any insurance company allowed to sell their coverage anywhere under the ACA? Competition only leads to lower prices, not higher.

As to your question regarding Rx prices, think "big pharma", then "lobby". Then think "design".

Yes Doc why aren't insurance companies allowed to sell their coverage anywhere, that was my question. I agree competition would lower the cost. I thought that was the premise behind the ACA. Tell me why does it cost 10,000. to get a cast for a broken arm?

What does it cost today to delivery a baby with a normal birth? The average vaginal delivery is now over $18,000. I have the receipt of my birth from my parents, it was $86.00, should things be about 200 times higher within a lifetime?

I will further my research in comparison to other countries, but the design I fear will be disheartening.

President Bush was lucky to have any numbers at all. When 9/11 hit, the catastrophe of itself was huge. Then Wall Street shut down for 24 hours which was as though the nation's heart stopped for 24 hours. Airlines stood still on runways for quite some amount of time, while some could not recover and were eventually sold. Major record storms hit our middle states with record flooding, record tornadoes (490 to be exact), and then Katrina with its mess.
The amount of unemployed from each catastrophic was absolutely staggering- and beyond.
President Bush managed to bring America through it all- with those numbers you gave!!! Pretty Damn good numbers considering.
Obama squalled and whined about the financial difficulties he stepped into without even a 'good job' to Bush for all this nation had just been through.
Before President Bush left office, he went to Britain and borrowed America's Incentive Money, that same money, our money, that Obama and Pelosi pissed away.
Obama stopped the American citizens viewing of the Budget Plans so we could not know how high the debt ceiling was raised- every year.
Our Nat Deficit is 20T, unreachable.
So for your post, you need some new information, and I hope I've helped with some!!!!!

Thanks to our government health care prices are out of control now.

The ACA regulations prevent interstate insurance competition. As I said prior, the ACA was designed to fail and is the stepping stone to the one payor system, meaning the governnent.

By disallowing interstate competition, the insurance companies were given carte Blanche regarding charges and coverages of procedures and protocols. Then when the SCOTUS, as planned, stopped Obama from illegally shifting money to give to the carrier's to offset predicted losses, the only cost containment left to them were premium changes....procedure denials....our of.pocket raises.....and dropping some coverage areas all together.

Sound familiar? People die under the ACA who would still be alive under the old system.

It needs to replaced. Being against the ACA is not being against universal health care. It is being against the purpose of the ACA.

Why ridiculously high costs hospitals are charging? It's because the new regulations being enforced on all of these institutions are so incredibly costly that many doctors have quit working for hospitals completely. Today instead of having your family physician you end up with a hospitalist who is a doctor on a page salary basis. Hospitals are looking for ways to cut costs and at the same time show a profit for their BoDs. Under HIPPA for instance, shared rooms are no longer allowed . Private rooms only according to the law . That's a huge revenue loss for any Hospital . And that's only one example. As in most Industries, excessive regulation leads to excessive prices.

While I do agree too many regulations are costly to both hospitals and patients so are too many exemptions on insurance policies. We seem to being living in a time when simple logic doesn't prevail. I've been on the other end of the insurance company denying you the coverage over what you physician as ordered to be done or take, this before the ACA. Where do they have the right to overstep the recommendation of the physician?

One of the reasons hospitals do have high cost is to compensate for so many without coverage, but this compensation is way above what it should be. This was one of the intentions of the ACA to resolve. Would people carry car insurance if they weren't forced, especially young drivers, no. It's no different with health insurance, young people have a different priority while they are young and healthy. People tend to not view things in the long run. The responsible people do but responsibility comes with maturity and experience.

I don't think it need to be replaced, I think changes and amendments are in order. To completely trash it is what they want because it will allow things to slide right back to where it was, with people not getting the coverage they need, and them making great strides in profit.

No offense Loki but your outlook is dismal, I still remain hopeful of empowering us to fix it and not because I'm overly optimistic, but because we've created this... therefore it is within our power to mend and repair it, it is all up to us, only us. It takes work to roll up our sleeves and do what needs to be done. It won't get done if we do keep electing people who are not working for the people and only their self interest. We need to take the money out of it, all of it. As long as there's money there's corruption. How many representatives would stay in if their compensation was only what they had to put out?

I want OBAMACARE GONE, and gone for good. I am a retired registered nurse and worked in both Texas and California, and NEVER did I know a patient to be denied health care and treatment, regardless of capability or incapability to pay. Before government decided to stick its snout so deeply into the field of medicine where it has no valid right to stick its snout, doctors and nurses in most communities did charity work, GIVING their time to see people in clinics where no one had to pay. These clinics were well run, well staffed, and life savers. Hospitals had wards for those who could not pay. LEt me clue you in to some things: Hospitals had "charity wards" where people got the same care as everyone else in the hospital, free of charge, or paying only what they COULD pay. They had the same doctors and the same nurses, and the same treatments and medications as did every patient in the hospital, the only difference being they had to sleep in older beds and in some cases no private rooms.....BUT PC came about and burned all that benevolence. The PTB insisted, commanded that charity wards be eliminated so as to not cause embarrassment to those getting free care....the patients had to be given beds just like the paying patients so as to not hurt their psyche. Have you any idea how much it cost each and every hospital to buy new beds, bedside tables, produce more private rooms, etc? As a nursing student I failed to see how "embarrassment at being poor" was more important than hospitals being able to make enough money via paying patients in order to also care for the poor. Once the government shoved its snout into the health care field, all hell broke loose re costs and expenses. I cannot, will never, accept government involvement in health care or any other private enterprise because all it does is cause trouble and spiked prices. Surely you know that government tries to tear down all private enterprises in order to force them to buckle under big daddy government's authority. Government can cause great harm, great hurt to ALL WHO WILL NOT OBEY the BIG ONE IN DC, and that is NOT what my AMERICA was, but today's America IS. It makes me want to cry. I once had great respect for our government officials. Now, having lived a good many years, I have gotten smarter and now wouldn't trust this government re ANYTHING. It is FORCE and INTIMIDATION, nothing more, and certainly NOT intelligence or benevolence.

I disagree. NO, "We" did not create this! The leftists in our country created this! After THEY created this, the republican politicians decided to join the rotten democrats and go along for the ride and help the dems destroy the nation. I, you, other civilians have had NO HAND IN THIS CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR, and I, for one, will not abide by the mantra of "government of the people, by the people, for the people." What we have is NO SUCH THING, AND IT'S HIGH TIME WE ADMIT THE TRUTH. We have an oligarchy running the country on OUR backs, on OUR income, and we citizens have NO STANDING in the courts to stop this criminal enterprise. The COS MAY be able to stop part of the criminal enterprises within our government, but I doubt it will accomplish much.....crime in our government has gone on too long and too rabidly to be easily solved and stopped.

If I could vote in Calif. I could vote against Maxine Waters, but I have no say re the idiot, Maxine. Ditto all the other states in which I have no say. The idiots in the state have all the say........all of our elections are fraudulent and we have an Attorney General who is as crooked as the President and the Congress and the Supreme Court; hence the fraud will continue unabated.

You forgot how many people Obama has murdered. That Hillary Clinton sold uranium mines to Putin who hates America. You are right about W Bush. We are at war now and after November you may sing a different tune about Obama. Keep watching and looking forward to seeing the truth. No matter what happens you still have time to become friends with Jesus. That is a promise you can't deny.
