Hillaryâs comments about half of Trump supporters isnât something Donald Trump expected her to say.
Hillary Clintonâs remark that half of Donald Trumpâs supporters can be put into a âbasket of deplorablesâ is the biggest mistake of the campaign, the Republican nominee said Monday.
Trump, who himself has gotten in hot water for many of his own comments, referenced the âangerâ with which he said Clinton made the comment.
âAnd she even really doubled up because it was said with such anger and such unbelievable anger, and I think this is the biggest mistake of the political season,â Trump said on âFox and Friendsâ Monday.
âI really do. When I saw this in its full form, and I saw the anger with which she said it, I mean the way she spoke, I think itâs the single biggest mistake of the political season,â he said.
The GOP White House candidate added, âPersonally, when I heard it, I thought that it was not something that was within the realm of possible that she wouldâve said it.â
âWell, remember this: Youâre going to be president, you are president of all the people,â Trump said.
âYouâre not president of 50 percent or 75 percent. Youâre president of all the people youâre president of everybody and somehow it has to get out there that, you know, itâs not a certain group of people thatâs going to be left behind. Or they have already left behind with jobs and lots of other things.â
Hillary had quickly backtracked and said âregrets saying halfâ and was âgrossly generalisticâ.
It didnât take long for a new hashtag to hit Twitter, #JeSuisDeplorable.
