of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, UNDER GOD . . . .

The town of 1400 people in which I live is in a canyon. At the center of town, next to the railroad crossing, is the big community American flag.

About 1000 feet up on a peak of the ridge to the east stands an American flag, it is illuminated at night by two solar powered flood lamps.

About 1000 feet up on a peak of the ridge to the west stands another.

There is an American flag flying in all the parks, at city hall, at the fire stations, the P.O., the BLM field office, the VFW hall, there are two at the hospital, and there is not a residential street in town where you do not see at least one, often more. There is one in my front yard and in my next door neighbor's yard.

There are American flags displayed in the windows of homes, businesses and shops. There are American flags for sale in some of the stores and shops.

You often see American flags flying from private cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles. And, of course, there is an American flag on all the Sheriff's vehicles.

The only railroad that comes through here is Union Pacific. Every engine of a train has an American flag painted on both sides.

And today, Labor Day (and on Memorial Day and Independence Day), there are American flags lining the main highway through town--95 of them.

On some flag poles, just below the American flag, you see a state flag, or a POW flag, or a Gadsden flag.

You do not see a flag of the Soviet Union or a Palestinian flag, or an ISIS flag, or an Iranian flag or a Mexican flag.

Nothing but American flags all over town.

And behind most every door is someone with a gun.

Not only is there a gun behind every door, but there is also a fool who thinks "They're coming to get my guns." Waving a flag doesn't make you nearly as patriotic as trying to make this country even better than it is.

If this is the case then YOU are the fool .
We all want a better country Richard .
Question is , What is considered better ?
I SAY ,,, Less government. , less regulation , less immigration = More freedom , more business , more jobs for citizens
We must clean our house before we clean the neighbors , better yet , stay the hell out of the neighbors house !!!!! Have good Labor day .

One ting I am saying is that it would be impossible for "them" to come and "get your guns." I saw a calculation recently that with the number of guns in this country, even hiring a large number of extra people, it would take at least 30 years for them to "come and get everyone's guns." The belief that they are "coming to get your guns" is paranoid.

What are you, some kind of Berkeley bimbo, or something? Did I say anything about anyone coming to get our guns?

What do you have against displaying the flag of our nation? Far greater men and women than you have died defending it and the nation it stands for, they fell while fighting to keep this country great. So, just hang out with your computer and keep cranking out all that anti-American propaganda about climate change destroying the planet. That sort of bullshit suits you better than sticking your twisted snot filled nose into concepts of patriotism and love of country.

Wow, I guess you sure told me, didn't you, you cretin?

While you are waving your flag, what are you doing to make this country better ?

Have you served in the Armed Services ? I bet not. I have.

What have you sacrificed for the general good ?

As for climate change, the verdict is in. Only a few folks like you with impaired thinking still don't accept it, and on that issue you can be ignored. I posted an interesting URL for other folks -- not for you, because I know you are impervious to new information.

Go suck a lemon.

I'm not actually "waving my flag", Dick, it's up on a pole and the wind does the waving.

Well, good for you. Me too. US Navy aircrewman.

Richard94611 wrote:

After my tour in the Navy, I became a professional fire fighter. Many times in my career, we attended to the "general good" of our citizens, at times under extremely dangerous conditions. And, in a number of incidents, we saved lives. The folks we helped thought what we did was "generally good."

I see, so you are in charge of who does and does not read your posts. How arrogant of you. As for climate change, what is the verdict? The climate has been changing since day one, it was changing long before anyone discovered oil or coal or built an internal combustion engine. There is no verdict on climate change, climate change isn't on trial. It ain't a court thing, it's just the natural flow of mother earth. You AGW freaks really should leave it alone before you hurt yourselves. OPP post: Rapid Global Cooling Alert Could Trigger Freeze-Up Of Warming β€˜Science

Let's talk a moment about personal PRIDE. I do not have a problem with helping someone who is having a current problem as long as they are trying to help themselves. What I do have a problem with is those who we try to help, sit down and demand we provide more for them. I think after 120 days on welfare, I think those who still need it and haven't found work, should report each day to the welfare office for their daily assignment to a work detail. This way, there are no more free handouts, they will earn their benefits just like the rest of us. At what those jobs would pay in benefits the average would be approx. $25,000/year, which is a little less than 1/2 of what we currently provide to them with nothing in return. Why work when they will give you more to do nothing. I think our congress is paid too much for what little they really do. If you burn my flag, don't want to honor my national anthem, and you are that unhappy here, give up your citizenship and move to where they think like you. Same for flying another flag other than ours. First offense if they want to keep their citizenship put a fine of $15,000. 2nd offense you give up citizenship regardless of your desire. Once again, we would become a productive country and our citizens could have personal pride in their accomplishments.
