Nonsense. Trump wasn't even close to suggesting that Hillary be assassinated. He was simply reminding people that Americans who value their @nd Amendment rights will stand up for them-POLITICALLY, as they have always done. However during the Bush presidency there was an award winning movie about assassinating George W Bush, as well as a novella suggesting the same thing. At a campaign rally for Obama an image of Bush's head was in a basket after being decapitated by a giullotine. The collaborative media-always happy to push a false narrative about Trump, (or any Republican or conservative) excused these assassination suggestions-even discussed their "artistic" merits.

CBS New York ran a title that was a little more nuanced, but insulting to Trump and gun owners nonetheless. It was titled, “Trump: Maybe ‘Second Amendment People’ Could Stop Clinton From Picking Judges.” CBS clearly missed the context of Trump’s statement. He was not talking about “Second Amendment people” stopping Clinton or harming Clinton. Rather, he was talking as James Madison did in Federalist 46, when Madison explained that the people are armed so they can defend themselves against an overreaching government. Such action is defensive, not offensive. And the context was that the government will be in full overreach mode if Clinton is elected and gets to fill the Supreme Court with liberals.

And Mr. Trump was recently compared with Ronald Reagan, but I think there is some combination of Gen. George Washington's invulnerability also. Two things: first, like Breitbart, I heard the sentence end with "horrible day" and a new sentence begin with "If Hillary gets to put her judges . . ."

Second: I don't see how a "defensive" assassination is different from an "offensive" one, except that the assassin feels justified in what he or she is doing.

Oh, one more thing, I don't think Trump seriously wants to see Hillary or a liberal Supreme Court justice killed, anymore than he seriously believes Obama wasn't born in the US or that he seriously believes Ted Cruz's father was an accomplice in JFK's assassination. But it troubles me that he doesn't see anything wrong with bringing them up, apparently not realizing that there are people who will feel justified in acting on his words.
