You folksy curmudgeon. What happened to "dumber than a box of rocks"? You're getting more liberal with your insults.
More good news today for us moderates - budget done deal. The Rino's and Dino's are the ones who actually get things done. You Pugs and those Libs ain't nuttin' but trouble. They just complain, complain and complain.
Also, the Fed taper is going to start in January. So you're gonna hafta figure out some other economic catastrophe that it was s'posed to cause...the economic collapse financial cliff thingy never happened from the stimulus monetary policy.

The budget deal is a win for the Democrats, and a loss for the Republicans...it's a bad bill. The bipartisan deal was nothing more than the RINOs poking their fingers in the Tea Party's eye. Just because an economic catastrophe hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it's not going to happen. You can't keep piling on more debt (which this budget deal does) and increasing unfunded liabilities forever. At some point it is all going to blow up...when that happens is anybody's guess. I do know that what we're doing now is unsustainable. Anybody who has an ounce of knowledge in economics and math can see that. If Russia and China succeed in removing the dollar as the reserve currency, that's when it all blows up.
Currently Medicare, Medicaid, and SS comprise about 45% of the budget. With Obamacare, if it is not repealed, will add another 16-20% to the budget. You can say it's paid for, but it will have to be heavily subsidized by the taxpayer, and like all bureaucracies, it will grow and grow. Remember Medicare ended up costing ten times more than originally estimated. So, now we have about two thirds of the budget going to entitlements, and we haven't addressed unemployment compensation, welfare, food stamps, federal retirement, et al. Now, if inflation starts going up, which it eventually will, now interest on the debt ($17 trillion now, and estimated to be around $23 trillion when Obungler leaves office) will start eating more of the budget. They can increase taxes, but that will tank the economy even more. So, they just keep kicking the can down the road...until it eventually all blows up.
The definition of bipartisanship is "Democrats win, Republicans lose."

Thank you, and a wish for a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family. For the coming year, success, love, and happiness.
Hey OldSchool!
Im not sure its either a big win for the libs or a loss for the pugs its the way moderates like it. I like your cautionary assessment of the budget policy yet I recognize a lot of what your purport is speculative just as the libs speculate that all will be paid for and work out over the long run. I too agree with your assessment of Chinas actions to move the IMF away from the dollar. That pug debt ceiling threat gave ammo for Chinas argument. Im hoping for more Rinos and Dinos in congress because the libs and pugs aint nuttin but trouble.
