Odd! A site I found some time ago said that communism was banned but that our government did not enforce it. Now you've got me having to find it once again.

Communist control act of 1954 still valid but even in 2013 the SCOTUS failed to act on its legitimacy. Sad that our government does not act to enforce a system of government whoich advocates the violent overthrow of our own. But isn't that, in effect, what Barry's attempting to accomplish in his fundamental transformation?

The Communist Control Act was originally proposed as an amendment to the Internal Security Act of 1950, which had sought to combat the spread of communism in labor unions.[2] Apart from its secondary focus which concentrated on the illegality of “communist front organizations” (i.e. labor unions),[4] the bill was drafted with the intention of tackling the root of the communist problem in America: the Communist Party. In its second section, the CCA of 1954 portrayed the American Communist Party as an “agency of a hostile foreign power.”[2] The Party was described as “an instrumentality of a conspiracy to overthrow the government,” and as a “clear, present, and continuing danger to the security of the United States.”[2] The Act made membership to the Communist Party a criminal act and stipulated that all Party members would be sanctioned with up to a $10,000 fine or imprisonment for five years or both. Additionally, according to the third section, the Communist Party would be deprived of “the rights, privileges, and immunities of a legal body.” [4]

The International Security Act of 1950 had defined two types of “communist organizations.” Senator Butler later proposed a bill aimed at the removal of Communists from leadership positions in labor unions, adding a third class, that of “communist-infiltrated organizations.” Afterwards, Democratic Senator Humphrey put forward a substitute to that bill with the intention of directly tackling the “root of evil,” the Communist Party members.[5] Through an amendment by Senator Daniel, both the Butler and Humphrey bills were merged into one, winning unanimous approval in the Senate from both Democrats and Republicans.

The SCOTUS has never ruled on the Act's constitutionality, but it did rule that members of the Communist Party could participate in NY's unemployment benefits.
No Administration has ever really tried to enforce this Act. In addition, the Communist Party USA has even had it's members running for office, although they have never been elected to anything, as far as I can tell.
Who knows? The "Church" of Satan is recognized as a religion even though they say they are not one, and don't believe in any Gods or religions.
Supreme Court Justices are mostly former lawyers. 'Nuff said. A lawyer's job is to complicate shit somuch that it takes a lawyer to understand and unravel the mess. More than 60% of the current Congress are either currently lawyers or were formerly lawyers. People wonder why we are in such a mess.

The so called "Democrat Party" is a transitional Marxist Progressive Party incrementally moving us to socialism and then on to their utopian concept of government, communism.

Obama's lineage, his mother, father, grandparents, mentor in his early life were communists. His so called preacher, preached liberation theology -Marxism. He admits he associated with communists in college. His fundamentally changing of America, his campaign slogan, meant to change it into the Marxist philosophy he's been raised in and is his mother's milk. Chip it in stone! PERIOD!

I hate to step in here but now we have Sanders running for President and he is a communist. Hilary has communist "leanings" and Obama is the Devils Disciple. And young college age kids are flocking to Sanders, the grandfatherly gentleman. What chance have we conservatives?

Our founding fathers tried to cover everything but there's so much evil that they could not have imagined possible. We need some guidance in high places and we aren't getting it.
