Mandela was a terrorist and he tore down South Africa. When the British ran South Africa they did need any aid from the USA. or any other Countries. Once Mandela became president, he started to run white farmers off their property and the Mandela give it to the Blacks. It's funny, no one even tried to farm the land but, the Blacks started to burn the trees for heating and then before long most trees where gone, then the Blacks started burning the tires off the farm tractors. Before long America had to start to send food over to keep the people from starving and we still feed the Blacks today in South Africa.
How do you think the colonists looked to the British? How do you think the IRA looked to the world? Who is writing the history?
From what I have read, Mandela first tried for a non-violent approach and then rejected it, embracing both violence and a communist agenda. Whether the charges against him were actually justified that sent him to prison, in principle that is where he belonged in the view of a gruesomely oppressive and racist government. Of course he had harsh and condemning words for America; South Africa was an ally of necessity for its best interest. This country has supported a number of dictatorships of extreme oppression and gross human rights violations. They were friendly and we needed that friendship. Is that evil, politics as usual, or just the way of the world? But how does it look to those treated so unjustly?

Yeah I know. During the revolution the crown took Americans property and gave it to loyalists. Then The rebels burned them out and eventually forced them to leave the country. Who the hell said that WE are the only one's who get to use violence to get our country back?

you are right, in my opinion, he was NOT someone to be admired.

Quite right. And oh my, take a good, hard look at Mandela's advocates.
He was a black Che Guevara. Killed or had killed 6900 whites in 10 years. Is Che your hero also?
Oh well, he is taking a long dirt nap now. Sleeping in total irrelevance.

was it the British that ran South Africa I thought it was the Dutch
Not because he initially advocated violence, but because of the mess he made after he was president. If you tear something down, you should replace it with something better.
