I have mixed emotions. Forgiveness is required of us, vengeance is for God. Agreed. I can not give pain for pain, and I find that not many people can make me angry. I do have strong emotions about 911, having been in the Pentagon on that date; and no I do not wish to revisit my experience. I was in the military and would have killed, I would not have enjoyed it, but I would defend the US and those fighting alongside of me, even if it meant my death. I am a vegan, so I find it hard to even see dead meat. Do not get me wrong, I do not judge anyone else. That too is not my place.

So, you are a Muslim. I can only say that the Muslim faith is not from my understanding a peaceful religion. I can only tell you about my faith, what I have read and studied. Perhaps you will be the person to shed a better light on that religion.

I once prayed to God to take this "cup" of being a warrior from me.... I got an answer in a vision in my sweat lodge,,, "NO,,,that is what I sent your soul down there to do" so I picked up my rifle and asked no more.....that is why I was sent,,, and I argued no further,,,, it wasn't always fun,,,, but I was pretty good at it,,,, this last time,,, I was told again, that "MY time is over" and I was to go home and grow old,,, so I am doing that...still the mind,,, and you will hear his voice...no matter where you are...

I was aware of your heritage and being a Cheyenne, from an earlier comment on a thread. It was your comment "It is bizarre,,,, I wish you could sit and discuss it with us,,Islam IS Christianity,,," that led me to believe that you had been converted. My error. I have a very good friend, living in Oklahoma that is Cheyenne. Due to our friendship, I learned much about the belief system and tribe philosophies; when introduced to his family, they gained my immediate trust and love. That was many years ago, we are still friends and I sponsored his son and daughter at Virginia Tech. He and his family were my family, they still attend our annual family reunions.

It would be senseless for any of us to fight in a war if we could bring fire down from the sky. But God uses us to further His desires for us. We are called on to do many things in His name. It is hard to accept sometimes the jobs put before us. The Israelites had the same problem. they fought many wars for God, and were directed by God to do so. Why God did not just wipe them out himself, is part of His training to us to seek Charity and justice within our own understanding. We are required sometimes to fight evil to show our allegiance to God

I know you are going to say, "Who determines what is evil?" And I have to say the body of Christ. When we do not work in his scheme of things, then we will be evil also, and will reap the whirlwind of His justice.

Interesting. I have always wanted to experience a sweat lodge, I would like to understand why I am here. But, I do not hear a voice when I pray; but I do not ask for anything for myself, I pray for people who are sick, I pray for peace and love, and I give thanks. I have had a very good life, have gone through lean times because I was too proud to ask my family for help. I know, pride is not a good thing. But, I was taught to try to do it on my own and if I failed I always had family to help out. If is by the grace of God that I never had to ask. When I am still, that is every morning as I meditate, I feel peace and love; but no voice.

I recognized the tag (being a linguist) it was not difficult to figure out. I found it somewhat amusing, until I read your comment in another thread about the origin. Yes, Indians are just humans with the flaws we all have. I am not without my prejudices; but it is not a group of individuals but the actions of a few. I do love my friends, those that live on the reservations and those that live in the "white" world. Few of them become tainted or jaded with attitudes of hatred. As a Jewish woman, I also understand tribal thoughts and ways.

Where do I find a lodge? They are not in the phone book.
 I would pack and go in a heart beat. It would be good, my mind is open, and I hunger for answers.

Don't forget that part about "Christianity,,, only BACKWARDS" that is very important, that is where the evil comes from,, but discerning individuals can still do what is right and good,,that will be our only chance,,

If you believe you have done what God directed you to do, you need not be worried. He knows your heart, and has opened the door for you to confess your understanding of His direction. You should read some of the writing of David (Psalms). He was in the same position as you and any warrior for God has been. God has told him the answers. Even when David did things not in accordance with God, he was told of it.

War, is one of the problems we will always have in life. We hate war, and wish we could resolve problems without it. But God has allowed war in this world for His own purpose. There are some wars that are man started, and man directed, not in concert with God, and they are disastrous. (Vietnam comes to mind. ) Maybe that was not one of the right ones.
